Joshs pov

Me and mum decide to stay for an extra day and get back tomorrow. We've all spent the day having a walk through the woods, meeting the rest of the pack, most are nice and and friendly. A few decided to their opion on 'how I hurt thier alpha' but they was soon set straight.

Around 2pm shannon finds us" Hey guys,  I'm really sorry but evie wants to go out for dinner tonight. I said to change it for tomorrow but she already made the reservation" she rolls her eyes at us "we'll be leaving around 5 but shouldn't be home too late"

"It's okay sis, I don't mind spending more time getting to know abi and kai, they seem like a cool couple" I smile at her.

"They are, they're the best"

She goes off to find evie somewhere. "Hey josh, can I ask something?" My mum looks worried

"Of course everything okay?"

"Can we go for a run?"

I'm confused now but she smiles up at me "I haven't shifted since your father" she looks down at the floor. She still struggles to talk about dad's death. She clears her throat

"Mm so yeah it's been a while but the last few months something has changed and I'm thanking evie and kayleigh for that now I know babies are safe and the bastard who killed your dad is finally gone my wolf is more relaxed and I know I can trust you. I just feel like it's time"

"I'd be honored mama wolf" She lightly smacks my arm when I use her nick name.

"Me and mum are going for a run, I'll take her up by the river. Well back soon" I mind link kayleigh

"Stay safe"

"Always do my love"

I shut off the connection "I know a really nice spot about 10 minutes away In wolf form. I'll he happy to show you"

"How long in human form?"

"About 20 minutes, why?"

"Can we go In human form? It's been so long since I shifted I want it to be a private thing"

"That's fine with me. Come on" I hold my arm out and she links her arm through mine smiling.

It's only late afternoon so still plenty of day light but now autumn is here, not many people are hiking around here so it's nice and quiet. Mum is relaxed as we walk the trail to the lake, she's taking in the view and in her own world. We finally reach the opening and I watch as she takes in the view

"Oh wow. This is beautiful"

"I know, I was amazed when we first come here, its all part of packs land so they can come here in wolf form, they often come in the summer for picnics and pack days out. They're really lucky to have this"

I open my arms and spin round and my mum giggles "Shannon will spend all summer up here! We all know she loves the water"

"Yeah she does" I laugh "evie was saying shannon will drag anyone and everyone here all summer. She'll often just dissappear and they would go mental to find her and then they finally learnt she was coming here and forgot to let evie know"

Mum giggles "she was always the master of hide and seek. Can you remember when she around 7, you, shannon and carter was playing hide and seek and your dad went mental because you couldn't find her?"

"Ohh yeah! We found her at the top of random tree the woods!!" We're both laughing

"After two hours!! Your father went mad at her" We both in fits of laughter remembering dad sending all his men out to find her and finally Ian found her in a tree when she dropped a acorn on his head. My dad was fuming with her but she just jumped down into his arms, kissed his cheek and shouted that she won the game.
