Kayleighs pov

"Morning kayleigh" Irene smiles at me as I walk into her office, she's a older woman I would say late 40s with short dark brown hair and brown eyes. She just radiates calmness and it's really nice to be around her, she's genuinely a lovely woman.

"Morning Irene, how's things looking?"

"I looked through through the results and it looks like your leg is healing well. We can take the cast off soon but I'd like you to do some physio after to rebuild the strength in your leg just to make sure you have no weakness from the operation or healing"

"Yayy, finally some good news around here! That's great Irene thank you!"

"You're welcome lovely, I'll get you booked in to have the cast removed Wednesday and then we'll start physio Friday. It should only take a week to get you back up to strength"

"Thanks again, can I ask how evie is? I mean how she really is Irene?"

She looks down for a moment and then looks at me "I won't lie kayleigh, it's hard to say when she'll wake up and how she will be after. I'm going to try and take her off the sedation tomorrow and see if she wakes up. We've done more tests and scans and it all seems okay so far but we won't know the extent until she wakes up"

Evie is one of the most strongest women I know so to see her like this is heartbreaking.

"Thanks, if you'll excuse me ill ring my sister and update her"

I leave the room and go outside to ring abi before going to see evie. I walk over to the little picnic area and sit down on the bench. I light my cigarette and call abi. She answers after a few rings

"Hi kay, how's things looking?"

"She's still not awake ab, the doctor said the tests and scans all look good but we need to wait until she's awake"

I hear abi take a shaky breath "you shouldn't of gone kay. If she was here this wouldn't-"

"Don't you dare blame this on josh or this pack abigail!!! It isn't their fault that's like me blaming evie for my injury! It was wrong place wrong time situation! She ran out to protect a pack that isn't hers! She's a grown ass woman and made her own choice, yes she got hurt but she chose to run into that fight and help! She saved other lives like the woman and alpha she is and we both know that's the choice she would make over and over again! She would always give her life to protect others!"

I can't stop the tears. I know abi is angry and worried but she can't blame josh.

"Kayleigh I wasn't blaming them! I'm just angry i wasn't there, maybe it would of been different"

"I know. I think the same because I couldn't fight but what happened has happened she's getting the best care and we need remain positive"

"You're right. How is your leg now?"

I update her what Irene told me and we talk about the pack. She let's me know mum and dad are worried for me and uncle Eric and aunt joy have come and helped her when they can as evie has been gone almost a week and probably won't be back for at least a week or two until she recovers. I say goodbye and throw my cigarette in the bin and go to the house to make me and Shannon some food. Josh is in a meeting with carter and another alpha from another pack to plan the capture of the witch and rogue.

I head to the kitchen and make a coffee and look through the fridge and cupboards. I make a few ham and salad rolls before wrapping them up and putting them in a bag, I get some fruit, crisps and chocolate and put them in the bag. I get some bottles of water before hobbling over to the hospital. I say hello to the staff and make my way to evies room I knock quietly before opening the door. Shannon is on the chair next to evies bed watching a film on the tv, she smiles up at me as I walk in "Hey"
