chapter 1

Kayleighs pov

It's 6pm and I have work tonight. I actually love my job, a shifter from another pack outside of town owns the club 'wolf lodge' human and shifers go the bar which is always fun when a human starts a fight with a shifter having no idea of their strength. That's always funny to watch.

I head to the kitchen and help my older sister abi cook dinner for the pack house. Our cousin Evie is the alpha of the pack and abi is her beta. They had a rough start when Evie took over the pack from my uncle as a few of the male pack members thought the pack needed a male alpha and beta. Abi is 4 years older than me and evie is 1 year older but we've always been really close.

Abi hears me approaching and turns to me a smiling "just the girl I need! Help me chop theses vegetables please!" I help her prep the vegetables for dinner and we have a casual conversation. Half hour later the kitchen smells absolutely amazing.  She mind links everyone to come and join us, it's only me, abi, her mate kai and evie who live in the pack house. All the other memebrs have their own houses built around the land.

Kai is the first one in the kitchen, he goes straight over to abi and pulls her in for a hug before kissing her "Wow! This smells amazing!"

Evie follows shortly after and licks her lips as she walks in "smells beautiful! What we got tonight chef?"

I help abi dish up the meals "abi has made her garlic and herb chicken breasts with mash potatoes and roasted veg. It looks as good as it smells!"

I pass evie her plate while abi takes kais his meal before we head back to the table, we all pour some water and tuck in. 20 minutes later we're all full and happy. Evie and kai tidy the kitchen and wash up. They're not the best cooks in the world so they always leave the cooking to us and then they tidy up, its a good way to keep the balance round here.

I check the time 7:15pm, shit I'm going to be late if I don't hurry up. I quickly run up to my room and throw on a pair or black jeans a black top before throwing my hair into a pony tail for work.. I look at myself quickly in the mirror. My bright pink hair in now fading, I really need to dye it again soon. My phone lights up with Jason's name

"Yes I'm on my way!"

"Hurry up, we have half hour until the club opens!"

Jason works as a bouncer in the club i work at along with our other friend Toby, Toby is 21 and started working with us 6 months ago. Jason is 26 and working there for a few years. Phil likes having shifters work the security as our senses are higher than a human so we pick up on conversations a lot better but our speed and strength is also alot better.

I run down the stairs shouting bye to everyone as I run out the door to Jason's car. This man is fineeee. He's about 6ft, slim but toned build and light brown hair and brown eyes. We've had a thing for a while now but we both know it's just to keep our needs in check until we meet our fated mates.

Jason smiles at me as I run over and jump in the back seat "sorry guys, I got carried away chatting with the family and lost track of time"

Jason pulls off and Toby looks over to smile at me "it's all good kay. We'll still make it on time"

15 minutes later we pull into the parking lot and make our way through the back door and into the club. We clock in on our way through and walk to the bar,  Sophie, Chelsea and Lee are already at the bar. Phil is doing his normal checks.

Phil comes over to the bar where we're all stood "Everyone go get your radios and get ready, the doors open in 5 minutes"

We all nod at him and grab our radios and ear pieces. Phils brother is head of security which he isn't good at if I'm honest. Most of the night he just stands out the back in the smoking area trying to chat up the girls. It's quite creepy actually.

Jason and Toby are working the doors while 4 other young lads work inside. Jason and Toby say their good byes and head to the door. The light go off, the disco lights come on, the music is full blast and then we hear Phil over the radio "right ladies and gents. Let's open the doors!"

The bar is only open from 8pm until 2am so the shifts always go quickly and before we know its 1:30am the dj makes the announcement "Please make your way over over the bar for your last orders! The bar will close in 15 minutes!!"

The bar becomes busy again and half an hour later everyone is stumbling their way out the door.

The music goes off and the main lights come back on. The dj starts shutting off everything while we tidy up and the bouncers do the last checks to make sure everyone is out.

Finally by 2:30 were all making our way home, Sophie, Chelsea and Lee all walk home together as they only live round the corner on the same street. I always worry about Sophie and Chelsea as they're human but Lee is a shifter so he always makes sure they get home safely.

2:45 and we're finally back at the pack grounds. Toby says goodnight and goes back to the house he shares with my best friend, his mate Lucy. Me and Jason walk over to his house like we do after every shift. He has own house and means we get privacy.
