chapter 22

Joshs pov.

I'm doing the nightly checks tonight. I'm walking around the grounds when I pass chloes house. I hear crying inside and I lay low so no one picks up I'm here, I can hear chloes parents inside.

"Something isn't right James! She's wouldn't do this to us! She wouldn't have me worried like this! It's been over a year and not one single lead on her, no contact! Nothing! I'm telling you she's dead! I feel it!"

"Don't say that Sue! She might just be lost"

"I feel it James!! She's dead and I want to know why! Alpha josh says they have no leads but he's lying!! He knows something!!"

Shit!! She knows chloe is dead, they can't find out!

"Carter!!! My office now!!"

5 minutes later we're In my office and I tell carter what I heard

"Ahh shit! We need a plan josh. If they catch on!"

" I know but what can I do!!?"

We talk for half hour and come to the conclusion we need to 'find a lead' on chloes disappearance and maybe try and fob it off as another wolf, hunter or suicide.  I don't know if they've been to the cabin so we can't 'find' anything linking her to the cabin.

" maybe get Shannon to contact them and say she got in contact and Shannon's worried for her safety or something? We can send out men to 'find her' and make it out to be a attack?"

"Yeah maybe, I can say there's been sighting of rouges? That way I'm not completely lying as we do that rouge pack, maybe say Shannon spotted her and we go and look for her?"

"Well sort it josh don't worry. Anyway speaking of rogues you found any more about that pack?"

"Nope only what Carl and collin told us. I'll try and find out more soon"

"No worries. Right I'm going to head back to Emily. I'll see you in the morning "

"Night"

Carter walks out and I go back to doing my rounds, I have more guards protecting the boarders since Carl said he thinks the rougue pack is planning an attack. I don't know if I can trust them yet. It all seems a little odd to me but my wolf didn't pick anything up so I'm putting all my trust in him, he's normally good at reading people and assessing the situation. 

I walk past the north borders and see my two gaurds talking as they walk the tree line they stand still when they see me and bow their heads 'alpha'

I nod towards them "evening lads. Anything new?"

Harrison looks up at me "no sir, just the usual" he's my age but a dam good fighter. He made my team when he was just 19 after proving himself to be strong and loyal. Most of my guards are older than me as they're the men my dad chose but after the attack I started building my own team, filling the spots of our fallen men.

"That's what I like to hear, make sure your wolf is extra alert please men, we know there's a rougue pack around and I do not want them getting close to us. Understood"

"Yes sir" I leave them to their work and walk by my mums house. I hear the sound of faint crying again like I do all the time, anger and sadness fills me. My mother is an amazing woman. She didn't deserve to have her mate ripped away from her like she did, my dad was a good man. He made sure to keep our pack out of trouble and he was still killed! I swear when I find the fucker who done this to my family ill make sure they suffer every day until they die a slow and painful death!

"Mum, everything okay?" I mindlink her. I know she doesn't want to worry me so she always hides it but I know she's suffering.

"I'm okay son, Just missing him tonight that's all"
