chapter 39

Kayleighs pov

We all head back to joshs while the others see if they can track down the rogue. Me and josh make everyone a drink, and we try to fit into the kitchen. I'm worried for evie as she's only just gotten out of the hospital against the doctors advice, but I couldn't stop her leaving, and I know she wouldn't let shannon go on her own. We just have to wait to see if they find the right place.

"Shuan, I know you and your group want to protect your kind, and I fully understand and respect that, but I need some help with this man. I've promised if you all help us, you'll forever be under the protection of the hilltop, and as an alpha and man to man, I give you my word that I don't break my promises. "

The witches have obviously hesitated to help us in the fear that wolves will use the knowledge against them.

Samantha stands up, "Alpha josh. The only way to stop a powerful witch is through death, but obviously, I'm not going to advise you to kill my sisters. "

"I won't kill them unless that is my only option Samantha, I'll do everything I can to make sure your sisters are captured alive but also they will be in the cells here, they hurt my pack and I know my beta is not happy with the rogue that hurt his mate and my sister is not happy that your sister almost killed her mate and also my mate is not impressed that her cousin and current alpha almost died due to yours sisters actions"

Josh is glaring at Samantha across the room. I place my hand on his back, and he relaxes. "No matter how we look at this, babe, everyone has their own opinions and wishes. Either way, we all agree that what they have done is unacceptable and deserves punishment, correct? "

I scan the room, and everyone nods. "Okay, so that means we have to work together. I don't want my mate, family or pack being hurt just as much as you don't want your sisters and fellow witches being hurt but when we think of it logically the chances are a few will probably get hurt if we like it or not. We've just got to try and stop that from happening. "

Everyone is watching me, and I feel awkward but also powerful with josh at my side. "So. We need to make a plan where we can move quickly and safely to stop anyone getting hurt, but our main goal is to get Stuart,  Clara, and Mary into custody, we all agree on that"

Samantha stands up again. "I just don't want my sisters hurt, kayleigh. I know they done wrong, but they're all the family I have left. "

"I understand, Samantha. Me and josh give you our word as alpha and future luna we will do everything to keep them unharmed. "

She nods at me. "Okay. I know we can do a few spells to try and disarm or basically freeze them, but we don't know how it will go until the time comes. Clara and Mary are strong, I don't think they wouldn't hurt me or the witches, but I can't say the same for you and your pack. "

"We understand."

I look at josh, who is in his own world "babe" I nudge him, which snaps him out of his thoughts.

"Sorry, Carter just linked me. They made it to the first location, and there's no sign of them. They're moving to the next one now.

45 minutes go by, and we finally hear news

"They have the location. They're certain they haven't been spotted, but they're heading back now. They're all okay, but pam, jane, and Mark are a little weak. "

We all sigh in relief as we know they are okay. We all head back to the pack house to the meeting room, and shortly after, they all walk in. The witches look exhausted, so I get them some water and biscuits to give some energy back while Carl speaks to everyone

"So, we found their location on the third attempt. It's around 15 miles east from here. Shannon said it was an old wearhouse they used to make clothes in? It got shut round around 7-8 years ago and has been abandoned since"

"Yes, I know where that is," josh answers him with a stern look on his face. 

Carl continues speaking, "so when we got there, four men were guarding the front enterence and two on the back. It seems there's no where to hide as it's In the open, we only managed to get a good view of them from the side of the road that's hidden by another building and thankfully the witches hiding our scent. I don't think we'd be able to sneak up and attack them, josh. we'll have to be fast and quiet to take the guards out, of course, a distraction. "

Carter has been quiet since he came in but finally speaks, "What if I approach them? I can say I've found Stuart, and I want him for hurting Emily?"

Josh quickly speaks up. "No, he'll know that it's a trap. He knows I wouldn't let you go alone. "

"Yeah, but if the witches hide everyones scent, they'll think it's just me. I'll make out that I've been tracking him for days or something. "

"NO CARTER! I won't risk it. He will question how you found him!" I can tell Josh is angry and worried. I place my hand on his back again..

"Josh, listen to me! I grew up around here! He knows that! I can say I knew they didn't have land, so I checked the abandoned sites, I'll say we come here to drink and hang out as teenagers! That's how we found them anyway because of Shannon hanging out there when she was younger!"

Josh is silent. He doesn't move, doesn't blink, nothing..

"I think it could work." I finally speak up. Josh turns to me, and I can't read his expression. 

Josh finally speaks, "We need a backup plan in case that doesn't and what if that just attracts the back guards. We still need to take down the four at the enterence to get inside and not make Stuart aware of a potential attack. "

We all stay quiet while we think.

"They don't know me. They've only seen my wolf form. " Everyone turns to evie." If my scent is masked, I can act like a helpless female who's lost?"

"I can slightly change your scent. Make you smell more human. " pam sits up straight in her chair

After discussing it for a while, we make a plan.

Two of Carl's men, two of joshs men and a witch will watch the hide out for at least a few days to make sure they don't move and see if they have a pattern where we can strike at the perfect time. We all exit the house to rest and get ready. Josh and Carl have ordered that we all have more training to make sure we're on the ball with our fighting in both forms. It's going to be a tough few days, but once it's over me and josh can finally make plans to move forward, any I can't wait.
