chapter 24

Kayleighs pov

It's 5:45pm and we leave our house and head over to Toby and Lucy's house. We knock the door and walk in "hello?"

I hear Toby Answer us "in the kitchen"

We walk down the hallway and into their kitchen, Toby, George, Jason and a few more people are in the kitchen drinking. I rush over to George and grab his shoulders "happy birthday pup!! Let's get you wrecked!!"

They all laugh and raise their glasses George stands up by me "guys, this is kayleigh, our alpha evie and her mate Shannon, evies beta abi and her mate kai and you guys theses are my mates my college,  this is cassie, lillie and kyle" we all nod towards them. I'm guessing their shifers as well as he introduced us by our titles. Lucy comes running down the stairs "so sorry guys!! My bloody eye liner just wouldn't go right! So we all ready ?"

We all make our way to the restaurant that Toby booked. A young lad shows us to our table and gives us the menu before leaving us to read through. We all order our food and drinks, George tells us about college which abi loves as he's studying art and graphic design, abi is very creative and loves painting. We learn more about georges friends and find that their shifters from a pack a few miles from here but they seem really nice and that's the main thing. We all get along really well and all having a laugh. Jason has looked at me with a sad look a few times but I try to ignore it. I don't want to ruin georges birthday by getting into that mess.

Once our meal is done, we all chip in for the bill and make the short walk to the first pub. We deiced to go to a few pubs before heading to the wolf lodge.  The first pub is quiet for a weekend, Toby and jason head to the bar and gets drinks while we all find a table. Lillie noticed the pool table and of course we all agree that a few games of pool is what we need, me and lillie team up against cassie and kyle. Kyle sets the table and we start playing. I learnt that kyle and cassie are mates, lillie hasn't found her mate yet but shes more focused on college which I respect.  They're all a few years younger than us but they're fun to be around.

Half hour later, kyle and cassie win the match and play against Toby and Jason.

"Hey Shannon, want to give me a hand getting drinks" she shows me a shy smile and follows me to the bar, we stand and wait to be served

"how you finding the gang?"

She looks over at evie and then back to me "honestly? I love it, a few of you are little hmmm"

I laugh "crazy?"

She laughs and nods "yeah, im not used to the madness anymore but I really do care about you all. You're all amazing and taken me in as one of your own"

I slightly nudge her "you're one of us now"

A lad around my age comes over to us and flashes a beautiful smile "hello ladies what can I get you?"

"12 shots please, can I have a mix of flavours please"

"Of course"  he walks down the bar and starts pouring the shots

"How's it going with josh"

I try not to let the sadness hit me "hmm yeah, it's good. I mean the distance sucks but nothing we can do about it"

"Will you go to hilltop?"

I've never thought of leaving wolf creek and me and josh certainly haven't spoken about moving

"honestly I don't know. I mean he's the boss there isn't he so I gues that'll be the only way we could be together but I don't know when that'll happen. Got to see how it goes first"
