chapter 41

Joshs pov

We strike tonight,  hoping the darkness helps us. We're all tense and you can you feel it in the air. Carter refuses to leave Emily and olive until it's time to go. Carl and his pack are going over training with my men, Irene and the other witches are resting and going over spells while me, kayleigh, shannon and evie go to mums. She knows what we have planned and she's worried for us which is understandable.

Its lunch time and mum done us some burgers, we all sit out side and enjoy the time together

"Excuse me guys. Just need the loo" Shannon gets up and I look at evie as she watches her walk away. She looks at us suddenly looking nervous and clears her throat we all look at her

"So, mandy, Josh I need to have a chat with you both"

We sit and wait for her to talk "so I'm going to rush this as I don't know how long I have until she's comes back but I just want you both to know Shannon is the most important thing in my life and I'll thank the goddess everyday for her"

Kayleigh starts slapping my leg, tears fill her eyes and she has a massive smile on her face while she looks at evie. Evie gives her a shy smile and nods

"So, I'm asking you both as her family and her alpha if I can have your blessing to ask her to marry me"

Our jaws on the floor, mum quickly jumps up and wraps her arms around evie "oh my goddess!! Of course you have my blessing evie!"

She let's go and evie looks at me "josh I know you're the most important male figure in her life and that's why I asked your blessing as well"

"Holy shit. I can't believe it" I pause for a few seconds "of course you have my blessing evie. You've proven your love, loyalty and protection to my sister and that's all I've ever wished for her. I know she won't say no so congratulations" she hugs me tight and I'm taken back by the sudden show of affection from evie.

We hear footsteps coming down the stairs and quickly get back to the topic of the latest movies. Shannon sits back down with us and smiles "I think we should we have a movie night before we head home. We can go and get snacks, drinks etc and make the living room all cozy like we did as kids with dad"

"Ahh yes! I used to love them nights" I smile at her, we plan to do a movie night Tuesday, once this is over we'll give ourselves a day to recover and then we'll do the movie night before they head home Wednesday afternoon

"Who's up for some games" kayleigh asks us. We all nod and mum goes upstairs and collects some board games. We spend a few hours playing the classic games all arguing and laughing together. I take a moment to sit back and watch them all playing twister and laughing when they all get put into stupid position and fall. I'm filled with love, pride and happiness watching them, I'm so lucky to have an amazing family. Me and Shannon met the perfect women to be our mates, I look at the wall and the pictures of dad. I miss him so much some days it hurts, days like today he should be with us, he would be laughing at mum and I know he'd love kayleigh and evie. He should be beside us, helping and leading us today but instead we finally face the fucker that took his life and he will pay for what he's done.

5pm we're all in the meeting room once again, we talk over the plan and make sure everyone knows exactly what to do, we all say a prayer to the goddess and pray for our safe return to our families.

"Ready?" I ask the group. Everyone nervously nods

"Let's go"

We all go on foot while evie takes the car, she's dressed in a pair of tight jeans and a low cut top hoping to be able to draw the gaurds away for a moment.
