chapter 63

Kayleighs pov

I was right, I hardly slept at all, I was too worried about Sophie to sleep I think I had maybe 4 hours on and off, I check the time and see it's 6am I grab my dressing gown off the back of the door and slip my slippers on before heading downstairs. I head straight to kitchen for a coffee and see evie sat at the table on her laptop

"You couldn't sleep either then?" She asks I walk in

"Nope.  Want a coffee?"

"Please"

I make the drinks and sit down at the table opiste her "what you doing?"

"Research" she spins the laptop round and I see she's researching human mates

"Eve" I sigh at her "it'll be fine"

"How do we know that!? She could get us killed kay! I swear ill kill hank for that stupid stunt!" She growls at me, her eyes dialated and I know she's pissed

"I don't want to scare her even more!" I mindlink her so if Sophie did wake up and won't hear the conversation

"If she says anything kay, we're dead! If it gets out to too many humans we know what will happen! We already have humans that have been trying to capture us for proof and experiments!"

"She won't say anything eve. She's just scared"

"How do you know she won't!"

"I don't"

I look down I know she's right. We don't know for certain but I have to believe she will keep the secret. I know she cares for me and George and I hope that will be her thing to not expose us.

"Exactly kay. I have to make a plan to keep my pack safe. It's my job"

"Let's talk to her first. I'll get George over later, we'll show her we're no threat and she can trust us"

"Fine but I mean it kay. I'll kill her before she tells anyone and I don't care what you or George say!" She slams the laptop closed and storms off upstairs. I grab my cigarettes and head outside. I sit down on the step and light my cigarette as I mindlink josh to say good morning and explain ill probably arrive later than planned and explained what happened last night. Luckily he's a very understanding man and was more concerns if we was all okay.

I hear light footsteps behind me and without looking I can tell its Sophie

"Morning soph"

She sits down next to me "how did you know it was me?"

"Your scent" I turn and look at her "Everyone has different scents and thanks to our other side we have strong senses which includes smell and hearing" I smile at her to try and make her feel at ease.

She slowly smiles back "that's actually pretty cool. What else can you do?"

"We're faster and stronger than humans, we have better senses like I said so I can hear, see, smell better than you so for example I can hear and smell the squirrel that is running up the tree just slightly to my left"

She looks past me and her mouth opens "bullshit! The trees are like 50 feet away!"

"I know"

"Nah I don't belive it!"

"Fine, go and hide"

She's now scared and i panic "not like that, I promise I wasn't thinking of you like pray, I meant you hide and I'll tell you where you are before I see you"
