Shorty, Lizavet, Emily and Indy raced forward and into the darkness. The stones crunched under their boots as the darkness embraced them as they breathed in the strangely cool air.
"I left marks on the walls," Shorty explained. "At least I tried."
"I left marks as well," Lizavet added. "The shamans used this way to disorient themselves to face the apkallu."
"A labyrinth," Emily breathed. "We don't have time to get lost." She stumbled.
Indy caught her. "Not gonna get lost. It's the same star pattern you identified in the necromanteion."
"The pinwheel galaxy?" Emily remembered.
"That's right. We saw it on the stone too."
Lizavet looked back, dropping behind Shorty to support Emily's other side. "That is the spiral symbol of the apkallu?"
"Yeah," Emily winced. "Are the walls supposed to be moving?"
"Just a shaman trick," Indy tried to reassure her. "Right, Lizavet?"
Lizavet gave a slight shake of her head, unseen in the darkness. "I can't tell." She blinked and moved her hand.
Shorty caught her hand. "You are not going into the unseen realm! Not again! Not anymore in these weird places!"
They bolted forward - tripping over a skeleton.
