"Right, of course. If he doesn't know Zevon is our natural enemy, there's nothing keeping him away. But what about Zevon? He has to know Khai is a werewolf, why would he willingly converse with him?" Scarlette asks.

"I hope it's not because he has intentions to hurt Khai." I reply.

"If he does, he's gonna have to face one angry, red wolf." Scarlette scowls.

"Shhh not so loud, we're surrounded by humans, remember?" I warn her, keeping my voice as low as possible.

"Oops... I may have gotten a little carried away." She replies.

***Khai's POV***

During lunch, Tyrone and I don't hang out at our usual spot. Instead, we hang out by one of the stair wells. We did the same thing yesterday because that's when Zevon first joined us.

Our usual spot is just for the two of us, and I kind of like it that way.

Tyrone sits in one of the windows, just looking aside, disconnected from the world once again. I stand next to him, and Scarlette and Aimee are across from us while Zevon stands next to me.

I try to pay attention to the conversations, but I can't help but focus on Tyrone who seems like he really doesn't want to be here. He doesn't participate in the conversations at all, and I can tell he's deep in thought.

His eyes move around, slightly reflecting what he's seeing, though I doubt even he's really paying attention to that himself.

"Right Khai?" Zevon asks, nudging my arm to bring me back.

I have no idea what he's talking about but I don't want him to know I wasn't listening.

"Yeah, ha ha..." I say, trying to sound genuine but failing miserably, which is confirmed when Zevon gives me a knowing look. But he doesn't say anything, and I can't help but feel a little heart-warmed that he's looking out for me like that and has my back.

I still like Tyrone, no one's ever made my heart go as crazy as he has.

But Zevon is also really nice and I can't help but feel slightly attracted to him, too.

He's considerate, and he clearly pays more attention to me than I realized if he already knows that I tend to float off into other worlds so easily.

I see him subtly glance up to Tyrone. I can't really read his expression, though I wish I could.

He already told me what he thinks of Tyrone, but still.

I'm nowhere near what one could call a protector, but I really care about Tyrone and I just want people to like him as much as I do, so I feel the need to convince Zevon that he's not a bad person.

Hopefully he's easier to convince then Tyrone himself. I know he still doesn't believe me when I tell him that.

Man, I just can't stop thinking about him. Maybe I should try to include him in the conversation.

The only thing is, I have no idea what they're talking about.

I attempt to stop or drown out some of my other thoughts so I can focus on trying to listen better.

"Honestly, she's the best. She was my only friend for so long, it's great to have you guys. I know we just met, but we get along pretty great, don't you think?"

"Yeah." I reply, and Aimee and Scarlette nod.

"What do you think, Tyrone?" I ask, but he ignores me. "Ty?" I try again.
