***Khai's POV***
"I'm so glad it's Friday." I tell Tyrone as we walk to school.
Zevon's not with us, again. Though now that Tyrone's explained why, I guess it'll be staying that way.
One one hand, it kind of sucks that Zevon gave up on me so fast.
But on the other, a certain child has restored all hope that I still have a chance with Tyrone.
Everything's been going so good between us and I almost think there's nothing that can stand between us anymore. But maybe I'm overly confident. Maybe it's just that I want to kiss him more than ever now.
"Fridays are great. And it's the perfect night for a party. What an awesome coincidence that Halloween is on a Friday." Tyrone says.
"Yeah. I'm super excited to rock our costumes tonight."
"Me too. Thanks again for making them so epic."
I smile at Tyrone.
"You're welcome."
🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘
When Tyrone & I enter the school building, I can't shake the feeling that I'm receiving more judgemental stares than usual, even though I'm in a good mood and that stuff doesn't usually bother me when I feel this way.
It makes me very curious, but I tell myself to ignore it. I don't want to overthink it and let it ruin my day.
I want to focus on the positive but also somewhat mentally prepare myself for this party without thinking about being judged.
Tyrone either doesn't notice it, or he's also ignoring it.
Or maybe I'm just imagining things and there's nothing going on?
Perhaps I'm still half asleep.
All the more reason for me to shrug it off.
🌒🌓🌔🌕🌖🌗🌘
My plan to shrug it off fails, because by lunch time, people are definitely whispering about me as I walk past. Some are looking at their phones and laughing and I already know too well that there has to be some sort of rumour going around.
Seeing Tyrone and I have been beside each other all morning, it could be about either one of us.
I doubt it's him, though. This has happened to me my whole life already.
"Ty?" I whisper.
He glances at me.
"Are you seeing this, too?" I ask.
He nods.
"Ignore them, Khai. You don't need their validation." He tells me.
I figure he has a point, so I try to take his advice.
Besides, if there was a rumour going around about me, what would it be about? Would it really be that bad?
Who am I kidding, rumours can ruin lives.
But so long as Ty sticks with me, I should be fine.
I glance at him again.
"But aren't you kinda curious what it's about?" I ask him quietly.
"I wouldn't waste my time with that shit. It's hardly ever true and also, nine times out of ten, you don't even want to know."
I shrug.
