Arthit-Divorce lawyer

Kongpob- his client

*********************

"Mr. Rojanapt your next appointment is here." A female voice come though the intercom. Arthit looked up from the case he had been reviewing noticing the time.

"Damn it I did it again." He mumbled to himself. He quickly cleared his desk of the other case, pulling out his next appointment file. There wasn't much there, as this would be the first time meeting his new client. "You can send him in." Arthit responded back.

A few minutes later the door was open allowing his secretary to walk in followed by a young boy maybe no more than eighteen. Seeing the young boy both of Arthit eyebrow rose. There was no way this young boy was looking for a divorce. Was he even old enough to be married?

"Mr. Rojanapt this is Kongpob Saengkaew."

"Thank you." He told his secretary before turning his attention to the young boy. He looked him up and down. The young boy looked young. Too young to have been married for five years. Unless there was something shady going on and he was sold to be married at a young age. Arthit mentally shook his head at that though. No way does that still happen in the world. At least not in Thailand. "Please have a seat Mr. Saengkaew." He said pointing to the chair in front of the desk.

"Suthiluck..." the young boy said, his tone almost a whisper.

"What?" Arthit asked making sure he heard correctly.

"Suthiluck...You can call me by my maiden name Suthiluck."

"Okay Mr. Suthiluck how can I help you?" He asked looking at the boy more clearly. The shirt he had on were fade, a slight tear at the collar. His jeans had holes in them, that were not made due to a machine, they too were very faded and worn out. He noticed the sandals were too big, but brand new. Arthit wonder if his man just ran out of his house, not carring about his appearance. Kongpob hair was also a mess, it looked a little greasy as if he had not washed it in a few days.

"I want a divorce from my husband. You're a divorce lawyer right? I didn't...I didn't make a mistake right?" Arthit watched as the boy looked around getting scared. The chocolate eyes, filled with fear, as his lips started to tremble a little.

"Yes I am a divorce lawyer, so you are in the right place. Since your husband is not here, I am safe to assume, this divorce is one sided?"

"yes...my husband...he doesn't want to divorce, but I...I can't keep living like this." Kongpob told his lawyer tears filling his eyes.

"Like what?" Seeing the tears in the young boys eyes, pull at Arthit heart. He has seen a lot of causes where one party didn't want the divorce, causing them to shed tears. Yet looking at Kongpob there was something different.

"He beats me...he is verbally and emotionally abusive as well. He has threated my life on more than one occasion. To make sure I don't live the house, he locks me in the house. All the doors have a two-way lock. And he is the only one with the key. He will starve me for days, only giving me water. He will force himself on me, never listening when I say no." The tears Kongpob had been holding in, fighting to keep at bay, were now falling freely. "He made me believe I had no place to go, that my family would never take me back. He isolated me away from my friend and family."

"Did you ever think about going to the police?" Arthit asked, feeling rage and sadness filling his body.

"He is the police." Kong sobbed. "They would never believe me. They have come to our house for dinner, to watch football matches, to play poker, and every time they are around my husband acts like the most devoted man on the planet." Now Arthit was very pissed. He had been hired by a few cop wives before who said the same things. He hated cops that abused their spouses and thought they could get away with it.
