Kong: Good morning P'Arthit. How is your dad?
Kongpob looked at the phone in his hand as he sipped his ice americano. He was waiting for his boyfriend to return his message.
He had not heard anything from his boyfriend since Friday. That wasn't too uncommon, as Arthit liked to spend every other weekend with his family. His boyfriend would not respond to him till bedtime, wanting to give all his attention to his family. It was something that started when Kongpob had gone to China. Arthit said it was a way for him to cope with Kongpob being gone. Arthit kept going even after Kongpob came back and the younger man was okay with that.
He never wanted to stand in the way of Arthit and his family. He knew how close Arthit was with his family being the only child. He even met Arthit family once. Arthit had introduced him to them as a friend. Though it hurt Kongpobs feelings. He understood why Arthit addressed him as such. Arthit was still scared of coming out to his parents. Even if they had been together for seven years now.
Kongpob still held out hope that one day Arthit would be man enough to tell his parents. It wasn't like Arthit was dependent on them. He had a steady well-paying job at Ocean Electric, and Kongpob was working too in his father company. Kongpob just couldn't understand his fear of coming out. But he lived with it. He wanted to make his boyfriend happy and if this was the only way to do it, then so be it.
"Where are you P'Arthit." Kongpob mumbled as he sat down at his desk. He messaged his boyfriend last night and again this morning with no replay. He wonders if Arthit was going to stay an extra day with his parents. He knew Arthit's dad wasn't doing too well, that was why he went to see them this weekend when he just say them the weekend before.
When Arthit told him that, of course Kongpob told him to go. What kind of boyfriend would he be if he told him different? Beside they lived together. They shared a three-bedroom condo, right in the middle of both their jobs. They moved in with each other when he came back from China. He argued he wasn't in school in anymore and Arthit didn't have to worry about him having assignments or classes. There was no point in waiting for the weekend to see each other.
Arthit surprisingly didn't argue. He agrees right away. He had been thinking about them moving in together for a while now. He admitted that a few months before Kongpob came back from China he had already started to look for places. It was his P'Arthit that found the place they were living in right now. When Kongpob had heard all this, his heart skipped a beat. Arthit was finally showing how much he loved and wanted to be with the younger man. It wasn't all just him.
Kongpob had not had the chance to check his phone all morning, he had been buried in economic reports and meetings. When lunch time came around, he picked up his phone for the first time in hours and was very disappointed to see that his boyfriend had not messaged him back. It also worried him. Was something wrong? Did something happen to him or was his father getting worse?
Kong: P'Arthit I'm getting worried, you haven't message me, are you okay? Is your father okay?
Kongpob waiting to see if the message was read, but after five minutes it was still marked as unread, along with the other two messages. He bit his lip wondering if he should just call the older male but quickly changed his mind. He didn't want to seem as if he was being too clingy. That was not like him, but he was getting worried. He decided he would give it till the end of the day before he reached back out again.
He ate his lunch in his office, away from everyone. It wasn't because he was antisocial, he was a social butterfly. No, the reason he decided to eat his lunch in his office was due a certain employee. A young woman, two years his junior who didn't seem to understand he wasn't interested. Her name was Khofang and if Kongpob was completely honest with himself it might be his fault because she wouldn't leave him alone. They had started on the same day going though orientation together. He helped her out now and then and was his typical self. Now she seems to think he liked her, no matter how many times Kongpob would show her his ring and say he was taken.
