Heeseung leaned back in his chair, a smug grin plastered on his face as he surveyed his friends, who were seated around the table at the small café. He took a sip of his iced coffee before clearing his throat dramatically, drawing everyone's attention.
“You guys wouldn’t believe how lucky I am,” he began, a glint of pride in his eyes.
Jake rolled his eyes. “Here we go again.”
“No, seriously,” Heeseung insisted, leaning forward as if to share a secret. “I got myself a green Forest. Not just any partner. Sunoo is the standard.”
Jay raised an eyebrow, leaning back in his chair. “Oh yeah? What makes him so special?”
Heeseung’s grin widened. “Let me tell you a story.”
---
It was just last week when Heeseung had fallen sick with the worst cold he’d had in years. Stubborn as he was, he refused to admit he needed rest, still attempting to work through it.
Sunoo had none of it.
The moment he walked into Heeseung’s apartment and saw his pale face and tired eyes, Sunoo dropped the bag of groceries he was carrying and rushed over.
“Why are you out of bed?” Sunoo demanded, his hands on his hips.
“I’m fine,” Heeseung croaked, only to break into a coughing fit seconds later.
Sunoo sighed, shaking his head. “Fine, my foot. Sit.”
Before Heeseung could protest, Sunoo was already unpacking the groceries. He made warm chicken soup, brewed ginger tea, and even placed a damp cloth on Heeseung’s forehead to help reduce his fever. But that wasn’t the part that made Heeseung fall harder.
The next day, when Heeseung woke up, he found a handwritten note on his nightstand:
"Good morning, Hee! I hope you’re feeling a bit better today. I made you some porridge—don’t forget to eat it. Also, drink lots of water, okay? PS: Check the fridge. Love you!"
Curious, Heeseung dragged himself to the kitchen. Inside the fridge, he found several neatly labeled containers of meals, all prepared with care. Each container had a sticky note attached with a cute drawing or a motivational message.
“Who does that?” Heeseung said aloud, shaking his head in disbelief.
“And that’s just one example,” Heeseung finished, crossing his arms with a satisfied smirk. “He doesn’t just care for me; he goes above and beyond. He thinks of the little things that make me feel loved.”
Jungwon rested his chin on his hand, a small smile tugging at his lips. “Sunoo really is something else.”
“Tell me about it,” Heeseung said, his expression softening as he glanced at his phone. The wallpaper—a candid shot of Sunoo laughing—made his heart swell.
As if on cue, his phone buzzed with a text from Sunoo.
Sunoo: Hey, don’t forget to eat lunch! I know you’re busy, so I made you some snacks this morning. They’re in your bag. Love you!
Heeseung chuckled, holding up his phone for the others to see. “See? A green Forest. I told you.”
Sunghoon smirked. “More like you hit the jackpot.”
“I know,” Heeseung replied, his voice brimming with adoration. “I don’t deserve him, but I’m never letting him go.”
And in his heart, he knew that with Sunoo by his side, he’d always be cared for in ways that made love feel like the most natural and extraordinary thing in the world.
