The prestigious corridors of Star Crest High buzzed with whispers as the director's office welcomed an unexpected set of visitors. Known only as the "Risings," their reputation was enough to make even the most fearless shudder. Leading the group was Lee Heeseung, the enigmatic boss whose every step exuded authority. Flanking him were Sunghoon, the icy strategist; Jungwon, the sharp-witted prodigy; Jake, the smooth-talking negotiator; Jay, the weapons expert; and Niki, the youngest but most unpredictable member.
The reason for their presence? To enroll Niki and Jungwon under the guise of ordinary students for an undercover mission. But what they didn't anticipate was him.
Kim Sunoo.
A light knock interrupted the tense atmosphere. The director's secretary guided a high school boy into the room. Sunoo, a vision of innocence with his fluffy hair, sparkling eyes, and a smile so radiant it could rival the sun, entered with a polite bow. He had come to deliver some documents, completely oblivious to the imposing aura of the Risings seated before him.
"Excuse me, Director. Here are the papers you requested," he chirped, his voice melodious and warm.
The room stilled. Heeseung’s sharp gaze softened ever so slightly. Sunghoon tilted his head, intrigued. Jake’s usual smirk faltered into a genuine expression of curiosity. Jay leaned forward, as if seeing something rare. Niki and Jungwon exchanged a glance, their usual bravado replaced by silent awe.
Sunoo turned to leave, but something compelled Jake to speak. "Wait."
Sunoo froze, turning back with a questioning look. "Yes?"
Jake, caught off guard by his own impulsiveness, struggled to find words. “Uh… Your name?”
“Kim Sunoo,” he answered with a small bow, before excusing himself.
As the door shut behind him, the air in the room shifted.
“That kid,” Heeseung muttered, a rare smile tugging at his lips.
“Cute,” Sunghoon commented, earning nods of agreement from the rest.
Days later, Niki and Jungwon started their first day at Star Crest High. To blend in, they wore crisp uniforms and carried themselves like any other student. However, nothing could have prepared them for the surprise awaiting them in their classroom.
"Good morning, everyone!" The homeroom teacher began. "Please welcome two new students: Nishimura Riki and Yang Jungwon."
The students clapped politely, but one voice stood out—a cheerful and genuine sound that made Jungwon freeze.
"Welcome! I'm Kim Sunoo. Nice to meet you!"
There he was, seated by the window with the same bright energy as before. Sunoo beamed at them, completely oblivious to their Mafia ties.
"You've got to be kidding me," Niki muttered under his breath, trying to hide his embarrassment.
Sunoo’s enthusiasm was relentless. During breaks, he chatted with them about school life, shared snacks, and even volunteered to help them with assignments. Despite their initial reservations, Niki and Jungwon found themselves drawn to his warmth.
When they reported back to Heeseung and the others later that evening, the reactions were unsurprising.
“You mean our Sunoo?” Jake asked, emphasizing the possessive tone.
