It was a peaceful afternoon, and the boys were hanging out at the café they always frequented. Sunoo, ever the friendly one, was chatting away with some of their classmates, laughing and enjoying the conversation. His smile was infectious, and Heeseung couldn’t help but watch him, his eyes soft with affection.
But as he observed Sunoo’s interactions with the other boys, something gnawed at him. It wasn’t anything specific, just the way they looked at Sunoo, the way Sunoo smiled back. Heeseung clenched his fist around his coffee cup, the unease growing in his chest. He wasn’t the type to get jealous. At least, that’s what he kept telling himself.
“Hey, are you okay?” Sunghoon asked, nudging Heeseung lightly, sensing something was off.
Heeseung put on a forced smile, “Yeah, I’m fine. Just… tired, I guess.”
But as Sunoo laughed brightly at something one of the boys said, Heeseung’s gaze hardened. The way they were all so captivated by Sunoo, it bothered him more than he liked to admit.
“I’m not jealous,” Heeseung muttered under his breath, but Sunghoon, who knew Heeseung well, raised an eyebrow, unconvinced.
“You sure about that? ‘Cause it kind of looks like you are.” Sunghoon teased with a grin.
Heeseung groaned and rubbed his temples. “I’m not. Sunoo is just… so friendly with everyone. I don’t mind. I trust him.”
But as soon as those words left his mouth, Sunoo looked back at Heeseung with a smile that sent warmth flooding through Heeseung’s chest. Heeseung couldn’t help but relax a little, but still, the feeling of jealousy lingered.
Sunoo walked over, slipping into the seat next to Heeseung, his usual cheerful self. “Hey, what’s going on? You look a little off.”
Heeseung shot him a smile, though it was still a little tight. “Nothing. Just thinking.”
Sunoo raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. “You sure? You’ve been watching me talk to the others like you're about to snap."
Heeseung froze, his heart skipping a beat. “What?”
Sunoo’s expression softened as he reached out, resting a hand on Heeseung’s. “Hey, if you’re feeling jealous, you can tell me. I won’t be mad.”
Heeseung sighed, his shoulders sagging in defeat. “I’m not jealous, Sunoo. It’s just... I don’t like seeing you with them.”
Sunoo chuckled, leaning in close, his voice warm. “You’re cute when you’re jealous, you know that?”
Heeseung flushed, glancing away. “I’m not jealous…”
But before he could finish his sentence, Sunoo kissed his cheek lightly, a reassuring smile on his face. “I’m yours, Heeseung. Don’t worry about it. I’m not going anywhere.”
Heeseung, still a little embarrassed, smiled back at Sunoo. “Okay. Maybe I am a little jealous,” he admitted quietly.
Sunoo laughed softly, squeezing his hand. “Good. Now you know you don’t have to hide it. I love you, okay?”
Heeseung’s heart swelled with warmth. “I love you too, Sunoo.”
And just like that, the jealousy faded away, replaced by a simple truth: Heeseung trusted Sunoo, and he knew, no matter what, they were in this together.
