The late afternoon sun filtered through the windows of the practice room, casting soft golden light over the boys of ENHYPEN. The group had just finished rehearsing, and while some of the members were still stretching or chatting, Sunoo and Sunghoon found a quiet corner to rest. But it was Sunoo and Jaeyun who caught each other’s eyes from across the room. Jaeyun, usually playful, was unusually quiet today.
Sunoo tilted his head, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he made his way toward Jaeyun, who was seated by the windowsill, gazing out at the city skyline. His usual cheerful energy was replaced by a certain stillness, something that immediately caught Sunoo’s attention.
“Jaeyun?” Sunoo called softly, standing a few steps away, unsure if he should disturb him. “You okay?”
Jaeyun turned his head, his soft smile immediately lighting up his features as he saw Sunoo. “Oh, hey Sunoo. Yeah, just… lost in thought.”
Sunoo sat beside him, their legs brushing as he leaned against the windowsill, looking out as well. “About what?”
Jaeyun took a deep breath, looking out at the sky. "Just... everything, I guess. The schedule, the pressure. Sometimes it feels overwhelming, you know?"
Sunoo nodded, his gaze shifting between Jaeyun and the horizon. “I get that. But you don’t have to carry it all by yourself. We’re all here for you."
Jaeyun chuckled softly, though it was a little strained. “I know. But sometimes it’s just easier to keep things to myself.”
Sunoo gently nudged Jaeyun’s arm, his voice warm and reassuring. “You don’t have to hide it from me. I’m here, always.”
Jaeyun turned to face Sunoo, meeting his eyes with a sincerity that was rare for the playful and often teasing Jaeyun. "I guess that's why I like having you around. You make it easier to let go."
Sunoo smiled, his eyes sparkling with fondness. “You know, I think you're the only person who can make me laugh even when things are tough. And you don't have to thank me for being here. I like being here with you."
Jaeyun's smile softened, a sense of comfort settling over him. He leaned a little closer to Sunoo, the space between them shrinking. “I feel the same way. You’re kind of like… my calm in all the chaos.”
Sunoo felt his heart flutter at Jaeyun's words. He had always known they shared a special bond, but hearing it out loud made everything feel even more real. Without thinking, he leaned in just slightly, brushing his fingers against Jaeyun’s hand in a quiet gesture of affection.
Jaeyun’s gaze softened, his hand shifting until their fingers intertwined. He looked at Sunoo with a tenderness that spoke volumes. “You know, I’m glad I’m not the only one who needs these quiet moments.”
Sunoo’s smile widened, squeezing Jaeyun’s hand gently. “We don’t always have to talk or do something big. Sometimes, just being together is enough.”
Jaeyun nodded, his thumb gently brushing over Sunoo’s hand. “Yeah. Just being with you… that’s enough for me.”
The two of them sat there in comfortable silence, the world outside carrying on while they found peace in each other’s presence. It wasn’t just a fleeting moment—it was a quiet promise, unspoken but understood, that no matter what came their way, they would always find their way back to each other.
