"Hey, what's with the tears?" Gabe asked as worry started to fill him.
"It's so pretty," she whispered as she tried to blink the tears away.
Gabe opened his mouth to start to say something but the awe in her eyes had him quickly shutting it. "So do you want to stay here, then?" She nodded with a smile which made him beam with pride. "Okay, I'll put your stuff in here then go get the signs. Take a look around, bathroom's through there. Oy, did you bring bath stuff or want me to have Luke grab some stuff?"
"I forgot," she gasped, bringing her hand to her mouth.
"That's fine," he chuckled, pulling his phone out of his pocket. "Oy Luke, Heidi forgot shower crap, grab her and the kid some stuff and then I'll work on making them some in the next few fucking days. Okay." He ended the call then held the phone out to her, smirking at her confused look. "Luke said to send him what you get for you and Liam and he'll grab it. When I have a chance I'll make you and him my homemade stuff and before you even try to fucking protest, I make the whole family their stuff so it's not a problem to make more. I just need to know if you have any allergies and favorite scents and shit like that." She opened her mouth and he smirked, "No arguing Bunny, it's not a problem and we want to."
She cleared her throat then nodded, "Okay. He uses Aveeno because of his sensitive skin and I use Dove hypoallergenic body wash because of my sensitive skin. I just use Herbal Essence for my shampoo and conditioner. I don't remember what it's called but it's the green bottles."
"Okay, good girl," he nodded as he typed on his phone. "I'll let him know."
"Wow Hi Hi sooo cool," Liam gasped as he walked into the room. "My wub it."
"Even though there's no dinos?" she giggled.
"Yep my dinos wub it too, dis me bed?" he asked as he bounced onto the daybed.
"Yes," Gabe nodded. "Hey how about you come help me find the signs for all the doors so you can know whose room is whose? I know I have them somewhere around here."
"Yay me help!" Liam bounced excitedly. "Me be back Hi Hi."
"Okay," she nodded. She watched Liam grab Gabe's hand and walk out with him. A weird feeling happened in her chest as she watched them leave together. Feeling her knees weaken, she sat on the edge of the bed and nibbled on her thumbnail.
"Do you want me to show you to Belle's room?" Jerking her head up in surprise, Kota stood in the doorway. "I was heading there anyway to put these in the collection. Core's already put it in the system he created so we can keep track of what we have." He held up the books he was holding and gave them a slight wave. "I can show you the system so if you want to look something up instead of just walking around, you will know how to use it."
"Um...okay," she nodded as she stood. "Th...thanks D...Dakota."
"You can call me Kota," he smirked as he pushed off the doorframe to walk beside her. "Although I do prefer Dakota over Lee."
"Weird," she whispered so softly that he almost missed it.
Deciding not to press the issue, he motioned for her to turn instead of going down the stairs. After a few more minutes, he stopped in front of some double doors then stepped to the side so she could enter before him. For some strange reason, he wanted to try and see it through her eyes this time. While he always found peace and happiness in the library, this time it would be different and he wanted to try and see it as she did. Feeling her gaze on him, he snapped out of his thoughts and gave her an encouraging nod. "Go ahead, Heidi."
She took a breath and slowly let it out before pulling the doors open. A gasp left her lips as her eyes took in the upstairs portion of the library. Bookcases upon bookcases stood before her as she slowly entered the room. Her hands covered her mouth as she took in the rolling ladder then saw the pillow pile he had told her about earlier.
"Go," Kota smirked as he watched her take everything in. "I'm going to put these," he held up the books in his hold again, "up then if you want I can show you around or leave you be."
"O-okay, th-thank you, K-K-Kota," Heidi softly said as she fiddled with her fingers as she looked to him before looking to the side at a bookcase.
'Heh, cute' Kota couldn't help thinking as he went off to put the books away. Who would have thought he would think that way considering their past. 'Maybe the guys were right and we could fix this with her.' He hurried downstairs and put the books away. Deciding to give her a few minutes of peace, he walked around pulling back the curtains before heading back upstairs to see if she wanted to learn how to work the book catalog system.
Reaching the main level he noticed she was on the ladder looking at the fourth shelf with fantasy books. Her eyes lit up just at that moment and reached her hand out although she was barely able to reach it. Just as he was going to suggest moving the ladder closer, her finger tips grasped the spine of the book. At the same time, her footing slipped and she teetered to the left.
"Watch out!" Kota yelled out as he dashed over to her. His yell caused her to flinch, completely losing her balance making her fall backwards. Kota caught her just in time although he wasn't able to slow his speed causing them to fall on top of one another on the floor.
Groans filled the library as the two took a moment to regain their surroundings. Heidi sat up holding the book to her chest as she took in what happened. She tensed up realizing she was sitting sideways on Kota as he pushed himself up on his elbows. He was looking at her with concern which had her halting her train of thought before scrambling to get off him.
"Sorry," she mumbled as she inspected the book, "I think it's okay."
