68. Pain

Arthur wakes up and he stretches out. A big yawn leaves his mouth, and then he looks at his side where Dennis is still sleeping.

His television is off. They probably fell asleep while watching the movie, because he had no idea how it ended.

He pulls the blanket off him and he stands up. He takes some socks from his closet. He still has clothes on from yesterday but he will change them when Dennis wakes up.

Softly, he opens his door, without making too much noise so that Dennis can continue to sleep. Tomorrow he has to go and they will start the season again.

Charles will leave later in the week.

He goes downstairs and walks towards the kitchen when he hears the coffee machine going off.

He can use a cup of coffee.

"Good morning." Says Arthur when he sees Charles standing there.

"Good morning." Says Charles, he's watching with Arthur, and his face impression is off.

"Are you okay?" Asks Charles, and then he remembers the bruise on his face.

"Let's first drink some coffee." Says Arthur and his older brother nods and reach out the cup of coffee to Arthur.

"It's really nice outside. Shall we sit there?" Asks Charles and Arthur nods.

He sees how Charles has big bags under his eyes, like he haven't slept at all.

When Charles his coffee is done, he opens the door to their garden and Arthur closes it behind them again.

"I didn't know you would sleep here." Says Arthur.

"I wasn't planning it, but after what I saw, I had to." Says Charles.

They sit down on the chairs and Charles his look goes up and down nervously.

"Have you slept? You don't look like it." Says Arthur and Charles shook his head.

"Not much no." And Charles let out a cuckle.

"Let this just start." Says Charles softly, and he leans his head a bit backwards and then looks up to Arthur again.

"We came home last night, and I was going to see if you were still awake, so we could do something together with the four of us. When I opened your door, I saw you and Dennis sleeping. I was surprised to see him there, but you two probably fell asleep watching the movie." Starts Charles and Arthur nods.

"We did, I don't even remember the end." Says Arthur with a laugh. "Were you mad that he's here?" He asks.

"No, not at all. At least, not at first." Says Charles and then it was Arthur's turn to frown.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't get mad at me, alright. I want you to know that you can tell me the true, and we will figure something out." Says Charles.

"Okay?" Asks Arthur clearly confused where this is heading.

"Did he do that?" Asks Charles. "All those bruises, did he..... please don't say he hurt you." Says Charles and his voice is shaken.

"What?" Asks Arthur again and then the words start to make sense where Charles wants to go with this conversation.

"Oh god, no." Says Arthur and he pulls his chair closer to Charles.

"Dennis didn't hurt me. Trust me when I say this. He's the one that helped me." Says Arthur and takes a deep breath.

"That asshole from school thought it was a funny thing to do or whatever. After my exam he walked up to me and started saying things about you and me, our family. It's a long story, but he started to punch me, and I had a Black out. I couldn't do something, like I was frozen in place. Dennis was going to pick me up because we would do something with Jak and Ollie." Starts Arthur.
