43. The truth.

"They are mad at you?" Asks Dennis, and Arthur nods.

"Maman said I did it and they believed her. On Saturday I went back home drunk and was beat up by my classmates. One of your race friends helped me, that was really nice of him. But they knew I drank something that night so it is easy to say I'm alcoholic.... I'm not." Says Arthur.

"You said you fell back then." Says Dennis.

"I won't go around and say, hey I've been beaten up." Says Arthur and laughs. "School is terrible and can't wait until it is done."

"Arthur, you never told me it was this bad?"

"I didn't know you that well, and what can you do with that information? Nothing." Says Arthur.

Dennis looks at him and frowns. He always had this feeling that Arthut was lying to him about what happened, and he never told much about his life.

Now he knows why.

"I'm so sorry that this is happening to you. Says Dennis

"It is what it is I'm afraid. She wanted to send me to rehab for my alcohol problem. I don't have any. Yes, I can drink at parties, but not a lot. I've never drank so much as tonight and that is Clem's and Jak's fault because I wanted to keep up with them." Arthur lets out a cuckle.

"But nobody believes me, so I don't know what to do." Says Arthur.

"We texted that night." Remembers Dennis and lies on his side.

"We did. You made me calm down, I was really scared that evening." Says Arthur, and Dennis grabs his hand.

"I believe you." Says Dennis and Arthur's blue eyes are looking at him.

"Thank you." He says.

"You and Alice are the only reason why I smile lately. It's been a weird time."

"Really?" Asks Dennis and his voice breaks a bit and he clears his throat.

"Yeah, I've met you in Monaco and Alice at school that week. It's weird how two people come into your life and change so much for me."

"In a positive way?" Asks Dennis and Arthur nods.

"I'm scared of getting close to you. The way you make me feel safe is really weird, and it makes me scared for losing you." Says Arthur and Dennis rubs his hand with his thumb.

"I'm not leaving, i'm here." Says Dennis and Arthur smiles a bit.

"For now, but what will happen if I can't go to more grand prix."

"Then we have each other phone numbers, and we can call, text, and we will plan dates where we can meet up." Says Dennis.

"I would like that." Says Arthur and Dennis smiles.

"Me too, and we will do that."

"We better do." Whispers Arthur and he close his eyes for a moment before opening them again.

Dennis sees on his face how tired he is. And he should say to the boy to sleep, but he didn't get a chance before Arthur keeps talking.

""I only have fights with Lorenzo and Charles, they are mad at me for not listening. I know I'm not the easiest person, but they don't understand or listen to me. It feels like I don't exist. It only has to go their way."

"And when you say how you feel?" Asks Dennis.

"Then I'm in the wrong, because it didn't go that way. They brought me here in Austria to try and fix our bond, but it is not working. It only creates more space between us. They don't believe me."
