Peeta's POV:;

I spent all day preparing what used to be the town square with the other citizens. Quickly I rush home to get showered and get dressed nicely. I brush my hair neatly and look in the mirror. I tousle my hair with my fingers until it looks messy, just the way she likes.

After I cleaned the house and made dinner at mine to reheat later; I walked into town just in time to greet her.

When she gets off her eyes dart around looking for someone. I run my fingers through my hair and stand in the back watching everyone push and shove trying to get to her. She sees me and her body instantly relaxes as she pushes through the crowd. Her eyes never leave mine and she reaches me. I drip her romantically and kiss her not caring there's at least a hundred people here. "Hi." I breath into her cheek.

"Hi. I missed you." She giggles.

"I did too, the bakery's not going to build itself." She smiles and nods before taking my hand and turning us towards the victor's village.

"Can we go home?" She giggles.

"Actually no, we're off to the Justice building." I twist my face jokingly. She sighs letting her shoulders rise and fall exaggeratedly. "Oh come on, it won't be that bad." I laugh.

When we reach the location of where the Justice building used to lay. Her hand clenches mine hard as we walk over the newly formed ruble roads. Suddenly she sees everyone standing on the platform and she steps in front of me stopping my walking quickly. "Peeta, what is this?" She asks.

"Come on. Don't worry. It'll be fine." I walk her to the front and stand her where she stood to be reaped for her first games. This time I stand to her left waiting for the ceremony to start.

"Hello." Plutarch smiles into the microphone. "My name is Plutarch Heavansbee and I will be in charge of this uhm, ceremony today. If you haven't already figured it out, this is all about one person who made the biggest difference in the world. She was never actually thanked, or been rewarded for all she did. Because of her previous actions we had to postpone this ceremony. But I know in my heart that she wouldn't kill for the heck of it. She did it for a reason, because she felt it needed to be done." I smile watching her facial expression stay hard and never change. She looks emotionless, she looks almost like a wax figure staying stick still. "Would anyone like to say a few words?" Plutarch asks.

Bunches of people from the crowd come up thanking her for hey she's done and how she's helped. A young girl, younger than us by many years come up and tells us how one day she would like to do exactly what Katniss did. She told us Katniss was her true hero and for a second I saw emotion on her face.

Effie comes up to the mic and taps it twice in her true Effie fashion. "Hello, I'm Effie Trinket. It has been an absolute pleasure meeting and being with this girl for all these years. She is an true gem and a raw kind person. She..." Her fingers push away the tears threatening to spill over her real eye lashes. "She deserved so much better, so did Peeta. So did all of the people who I've known who played a part in the rebellion."

Her crying gets harder and Haymitch places his hands on her shoulder and nods towards the audience. "Id also like to announce that Haymitch and I are engaged.." She holds up a ring probably as big as two of my Knuckles.
Everyone cheers loudly and Haymitch kisses his girl for the entire world to see. "And that brings us to Katniss. Someone who we like to think is our daughter, along with Peeta our son. Anyways, today is about crowning a victor and naming the new president of district twelve. So, Katniss come on up."

Her head swings back and forth. "No, I don't want to be the president. Anybody but me please." She looks at me with extremely sad eyes and looks to Effie.

"I was afraid this would happen." Effie sings. "So, if temporarily Peeta would like to take her place..."

"Yes." I nod. I'm sure people are thinking I'm doing it for the power. But really I don't want her to stress about this right now.

"Well come on up then."

I grab her hand and walk into the stage and then then to Katniss. "It's going to happen sooner or later. Why not just let it happen now?" I whisper. She sighs loudly. "Come on Katniss. I'm not saying you have to bu-"

"Fine. I'll do it." She pushes past me up the stairs.  Effie and Haymitch stand center stage while Effie holds a book and asks Katniss to lay her left hand on it.

The swearing in ceremony is a lengthy process. And Katniss's face shows she doesn't want to be doing it. Pretty soon we're done, and everyone clears the town square. We bid all our friends goodbye and lead them to the train.  The walk back to the house is silent, I bet she's angry with me. Because I made her do that stupid ceremony.

"Are you sleeping at your house tonight?" I ask we we walk through the doorway and I grip her hand.

"Wasn't planning on it." She shakes her head.

"Okay." I grin and unlock the door to my house. "You can sleep in some of my clothes if you'd like. I know you do it anyways."

Her cheeks burn red. "I'm just kidding, my house is yours. Look through whatever you want, I have no secrets."  She smiles nodding looking around. Her eyes wander to the painted pictures of landscapes I did before the victory tour.

She takes each of them in going from room to room before she makes her way back into the kitchen. I'm making dinner when she comes back in, her hands wrap around my waist and her head falls into the crook of my neck. "Hey baby girl." I smile pushing my face into hers as I cook.

"What are you making?" She asks.

"Uhm, you know. Lamb stew with rice." She hugs me tighter and kisses the back of my neck. I close the pot to let it simmer and turn around. I snake my arms around her waist and bury my face into her beautiful hair.

I kiss her and we walk backwards until she hits the counter. In one swift motion I lift her onto the countertop and stand between her legs. She places my hands on her thighs and continues to pull me even closer to her. I smile into the kiss and realize I'm so lucky to have her. Almost too lucky, I never should have been able to win her over.

My hands find their way under her shirt and onto her stomach. I feel the bumps and bruises and scars that line her skin and I make my way over each of them. She retracts and kisses me again quickly. "I'm hungry." I hear her mumble into my chest.

"How'd we go from kissing to this?" I chuckle making my way to the other counter to make our plates. I lay the stew on rice and take the plates to the table. We sit at the tiny square table big enough for maybe two other people.

"It's hard to believe that one day our table may be twice the size of this." She says looking into my eyes.

"I thought you didn't want to have kids?" I ask confused. "Gale told me-"

"I didn't want to have kids if they would have been with him." She explains. I take her hand and hold it tightly in mine. "I also didn't want them to be put through the games like us." I nod and kiss her slowly. With her free hand, she brings a spoon of food to our mouths trying to kiss me and eat at the same time.

"Oh my god Katniss." I sit back laughing a her. "I can't-I can't believe you." I laugh out of breath.

"I was trying to combine my two favorite things. Kissing you and this stew."

She holds my hand again and studies my face. "How did I get so lucky?" She just barely whispers.

"How did I get so lucky?" I repeat. "I mean look at you, your perfect. Brave, selfless, courageous, kind, beautiful. I don't deserve you."

"No, I don't deserve you." She replies. "Your so kind, and smart, and handsome, charming, you know how to sweep someone off their feet. You'd do anything for anyone, without even knowing them. Your willing to do anything and it makes me proud to call you my fiancée. My husband to be, my lover, my best friend, my ally." She names off things she calls me.

"Tomorrow." I start. "I'll take you out and we can go have a nice day out."

"That sounds good. A day in the woods, a nice picnic maybe. We can do it together."

"We'll see." I smirk.
