Haymitch and Effie went to the hob for the day, so we sit in the kitchen as I rock Rye. I'm excited for our wedding, I'll finally be Katniss Mellark. I smile to myself thinking about it and Peeta looks at me laughing as he shakes his head and continues to cook. "What?" I laugh.
"What were you thinking about? You had this big dopey grin on your face."
"I was thinking about marrying you, and my last name being Mellark." I tell him truthfully.
"That's lame." He purses his lips.
"Lame?" I laugh. "Fine, I guess we don't have to get married then." I shrug.
"Oh no no!" He exclaims. "Don't make any harsh decisions dear!" He rushes to me and places a rushes kiss on my lips. "Because you know." A kiss. "No one else will." Another kiss. "Ever love you." A longer kiss. "More than I do." A final kiss.
"Your quite the persuader Mellark." I smile laying Rye in his mobile crib. "But I'm still not sure, maybe you could make me sure?" I hold back my giggles.
"You just want a kiss." He smirks.
"Not uh!" I cross my arms over my chest and stomp my foot.
"Fine, have your kiss." He shrugs kissing my cheek.
"Oh no no." I shake my head. "Like this." I pull him by the shirt and we collapse on the couch.
For half a second, he's the girl from two. Clove. But then she's gone and it's just me and Peeta. "What's wrong?" He pulls away instantly.
"N-Nothing, for a second you just looked like Clove. That's all."
We sit up together. "When she attacked you when you got my medicine?" He asks as his strong arms pull me into his lap.
"Yeah. Then." I nod.
"Well it's okay, alright." I nod. "Hey, did you go somewhere this morning? I thought I heard the door open and close and when Rye cried this morning I figured you were just downstairs."
"Yeah, I couldn't sleep and didn't want to wake either of you." I lie easily. It's become a habit lately, and is getting easier to do.
"Well thanks." He says cupping my face in his hands and kissing me. As if on cue, Rye begins to cry from his crib and we sigh.
"I believe he's going to do that every time we kiss now, isn't he?" I giggle.
"Don't jinx it!" He pokes me sides as I rise to hold our baby. I rock him in front of the window and his strong arms wrap around my back as his chin is laid in the book of my neck. "He really is a cute kid." He notes.
"Well that's because he looks like his dad." I shrug kissing Rye's forehead.
"Maybe if we have a girl she'll look just like you." He says optimistically.
I laugh. "No, she doesn't want to look like her mother." I say bluntly.
"Why?"
"No one wants a mini Katniss Everdeen running around! Who would?" I ask looking into his eyes.
"Well I would." I stare into his eyes as the oven beeps telling us his bread is done. He brings out a pan of bread, and cinnamon rolls.
"Your the best!" I sigh kissing his cheek. Rye begins to cry and I sigh her again. "I'll go feed him, you can start to eat."
I walk upstairs and begin to feed my baby, I hate feeding him. It hurts, not like a sharp pain but a dull one like a lodged bullet. They said pumping into bottles is about the same, I'll do that so when I'm gone Peeta can feed him.
