The Bombs.

I hug her tightly both of us crying softly into the others neck. I break away and slide the steel simple ring onto her ring finger and smile kissing her softly. I place my hands on her cheeks and she wraps her arms around my head and neck. Her loose hair covers our faces hiding us from all the people who came to watch. Everyone's clapping now, out friends hugging, her family crying. "I love you so much Peeta." She cries into my neck.

"I love you too Katniss." She hugs me close and watches everyone around us. "I will never, ever leave you. Okay? Just remember that. I love you more than I love anything in the world."

"I know Peeta, I love-"

The ground rumbles and something makes a sharp crack above our heads. The lights go out and everyone screams loudly. Katniss clings to me scared and everyone rushes from the room. We are halfway down the stairs before the stairs give out, I loose sight of Katniss.

And that's when the a bomb comes sending us all off our feet.

*Present*

I wake late, I need to find Effie. I reach my hand looking for Katniss but only find a cold sheet. I sit up scratching my head, I guess she's one somewhere. I leave her a note saying I'll be in physical therapy and then training at ground zero. I told her to go see Effie at six o'clock, then I'll be waiting in the botanical garden for her.

I pull on a mismatching pair of clothes and make my way to Effie's room. "Peeta! Hello, how are you today young man?" She asks happily.

Her hairs wrapped in some sort of bandana and she wears the same jumpsuit all of the citizens around here wear. "I need to ask a favor of you.." I sit down across from her.

"Of course, what is it?" She asks.

"I'm proposing to Katniss, I need you to get me ready. I'm not the best at dressing up." I chuckle quietly.

"Oh my Peeta! Or course I'll help you! Up, Up, Up! We don't have much time or a schedule, so we better get going if you want to do this tomorrow."

"Oh no Effie! Tonight, at six."

"My my!" She screeches. She stands running to the bathroom and making me shower. I get out and she gets to work with the products she has found over time here in thirteen. Their very strict on makeup and beauty products here. She parts my hair but I hate it so she makes it look messy. She dresses me in a simple shirt and I feel my fingers starting to tap

Haymitch walks in wiggling an eyebrow.

"Playing dress up are we?" He teases.

"Peeta's proposing to Katniss!" Effie sings giggling like a school girl. I shake my head and sit at the table.

"What time is it?" I ask.

"Five thirty." I stand holding the door open.

"Shall we? Id like to go get her mother, sister, and Gale if I can find him." They nod.

"Peeta, have you talked to anyone about this yet?" She asks.

"Well no, I didn't think to." She shivers and pushes me with her palm.

"Hurry, run to the garden and hide somewhere." She instructs. I do so hiding in an janitor room. I hear people starting to fill in and I flip the ring in my fingers anxiously.

I can't so this, I'm going to look like a fool and she'll reject me. I get up to leave and I see everyone waiting outside. Katniss isn't here, but our camera crew is already here set up around the room.

"Come on!" Effie hisses. I rush, stand in the middle of the crowd and face the door holding a bundle of flowers. I feel sweat forming on my brow, I shouldn't be doing this. I mean I should, but not in front of all these people. I am glad their recording it because I'll want to remember this. "I made her dress up a little." Effie whispers into my ear then shuffles away. I look to her mother who gives me an approving nod and a warm smile.

Katniss appears at the doorway, her hair is down and she wears a nice shirt. I don't know how Effie does it but even without trying she made Katniss beautiful. Not that Katniss needs to try at all.

She looks into my eyes with a question look, her feet glued to the floor. I reach my hand out and bring her into the center of the room.

"What's going on?" She whispers.

"Just listen." I sit her on a stool and hold her hands in her lap tightly.

"Since the first day I saw you sing in the school assembly I knew I had to have you. I vowed to protect you and keep you safe forever. Because I knew I loved you. But back then I never ever thought you would actually love me back. But now that you do, I want to give you everything and anything in can. And I'm still keeping up my promise to protect you. And your doing the same, because that's what you and I do; we protect each other." I smile widely, it's now or never. I bend down, she brings her hands to her mouth and she starts to cry softly. "I didn't think is ever get to do this, Effie made me do this short notice. The crazy thing is that I always fantasized about doing this but I never actually thought it would be this emotional or hard. So, Katniss Everdeen will you do me the honor of becoming my wife, as marrying me?" I ask confidently.
