Katniss's POV;

Everyone who didn't previously have a house in the victors village of twelve doubled up with someone else. Annie with Johanna and my mother, Haymitch and Effie together. I think there's something going on there, I hope there is to be honest. They both need someone to love and someone that loved them back.

It's been a week of complete solitary. Peeta forbids me leave the house in fear of me being seen and captured. I don't mind though, I've been extremely sick. Every morning I wake and puke into the toliet, then Peeta's there to hold back my hair and rub my back. After I've washed my mouth and changed clothes, he lays me on the couch and bakes fresh cheese buns.

Their about the only thing I can eat in the mornings without getting sick again. I turn over on the couch and continue to watch a documentary that was from the dark days. I watch as it tells me of animals called zebras. They have inverting black and white stripes, they remind me of a painted horse. "Peeta!" I call through the house. "Come look at this.!"

He's at the doorway in a second and sits down next to me. I brush the flour from his chest and lay my head on his shoulder. He watches the screen intently. "What are they?" He asks.

"Zebras." I smile. His brow shrinks as he watches and I smile. Peeta loves to learn, I always liked learning about the times before the dark days. There were so many different animals and places. I especially like the elephants, they were huge. But humans soon turned them extinct by killing them and collecting their ivory tusks. "Aren't they pretty?" I ask quietly.

"Yeah...." He nods. "Not as pretty as you though." He smiles before turning my face towards him.

I graze my lips over his but don't touch them together. The oven dings and I know the cheese buns are done. "You better to get those cheese buns, Mellark."

"Don't tease me Katniss." He whispers taking my face in his hands gently.

I kiss his lips softly just barely letting our lips touch. "MELLARK!" I bark. "CHEESE BUNS."

He retracts instantly. "Jesus Christ Katniss." He groans standing up. "First you tease me then you make me go deaf."

I laugh and catch his waist with my arms and pull him back. "I love you Peeta." I smile connecting our lips.

"Now that's more like it." He smirks kissing me again. The oven beeps again and I push him to the kitchen.

"THEIR GONNA BURN!" I yell hopping onto the countertop. I smile watching him take them from the oven. He puts one onto a plate and hands it to me.

"My lady." He smiles holding it for me like a table I take a bite and moan from the goodness of it. "Thank god, I wasn't ready to watch you puke again." He asks it as a joke but it seems to hit me a lot harder. But either was I smile and nod taking another big bite.

"This is good." I say with a mouthful.

"Oh is it." He mumbles pretending to have a mouth full of food like I had. "I couldn't tell." He places the plate beside me and rests his hands on my thighs. A tingle burns inside me and I kiss him slowly.

"Peeta, can we go upstairs?" I breathy into his neck.

"Katniss, it's nine in the morning." He chuckles.

"It's now or your ain't gonna get it for a whole again." I cock my head leaving kisses up and down his neck.

"Alright Everdeen, show me what you got."

After I jumped into his arms and he led me upstairs, we did what we came to do. Then fell asleep in each other arms so content, I broke a promise to myself. I wanted to save myself for marriage, but for Peeta i'd do anything.

I have a 'appointment' with my mother today in an hour about my virus. I stand swiftly and leave Peeta sleeping in bed. I pull on a pair of black leggings and a large forest green jumper. My tan hunting boots are a little harder to pull on my feet but I manage to pull them on.

I leave Peeta a note telling him where I'm going and not to worry. He'll probably start dinner while I'm gone maybe clean up and get a shower. I walk to my mother house using the underground passageway and don't bother knocking on the basement door.

I walk in and find them all sitting at the kitchen table. "Finally done then huh?" I hear Johanna tease.

"Done what?" I ask innocently.

"Humping Peeta." I nearly choke on the water I was drinking. The blood rushes to my cheeks and I feel myself blush.

"Anyways. Can we go figure our what's wrong with me?" I cross my arms and stomp my foot lightly.

"Of course." My mother giggles guiding me to the small office she has. I sit in a chair and she asks me to raise my shirt. "When's the first time you and Peeta were sexually active." She asks without a pause. "I already have a suspicion as to what's wrong, just answer the question."

"The night of our fake wedding."

She lays me down on a couch and feels my stomach. "Here." She hands me a pregnancy test.

"No no no." I chant. "I'm not pregnant!" I almost shout it.

"Just try it sweetie." She takes my hand and lets it go. I walk into the bathroom and do the test.

I sit for three minuets doing both tests to be sure. Tears are ready to fall and then do when I see the results.

Both two lines.

Both read pregnant.

I gasp when I wake and I'm laying in my bed.

"Peeta!" I yell through the house. The door opens and it reveals my mother. "Aren't I home?" I ask.

"No. You passed out after you saw the result of your preg-"

"Shh." I stop her. "I've got to go. I love you." I hug her tight and then rush out not saying goodbye to Annie or Johanna. My feet carry me to Prim's gravestone, which is placed next to my fathers. "Hey little duck." I whisper placing a rose on it I found growing wild. "You should be the first to know, I'm pregnant. With Peeta's baby. Your going to be an aunt. I wish you were here with me. We all miss you so much, even Peeta." I pause and listen to the winding wind. "I'm sorry I haven't come to visit in a while, we've been busy. I think I'll tell Peeta of the baby on Christmas. I wish you were here, you'd love learning and celebrating Christmas. You buy your loved ones presents and get a tree and.."

I got onto the rantings of explains Christmas and the other holidays Peeta had taught me. When the sky turns a dark color, I stand and make my way. Peeta would be so mad if he knew I was running around the small district alone.

When I enter the house Peeta's just finishing dinner and I smile at him. "Hi baby." He smiles greeting me with a kiss.

"Hey."

"What did your mother say?"

I rack my brain for excuses trying to decide what to tell him. "It's a new virus my mother just found out about, lasts usually about a month."

"Awh. Kat is sick." He frowns. "Can you eat dinner?"

"Depends on what you made." I smile as I drape my arms around his neck.

"Lamb stew with potatoes."

"Yes." I reply instantly.

We sit down and my fingers tap. Only one more week till I tell Peeta I'm pregnant.

I do, I need you. #wattys2016Where stories live. Discover now
