Blaine was flown straight to his interview afterwards, he is changed, fed, and then shoved on stage. His eyes are still red and puffy when he's shown. "Hello Blaine, and may I be the first to say: congrats."
"You aren't the first actually, my mentors called and said it." He says as nods shrugging. "But thank you anyways."
"So, Tilly." He says.
He sighs. "Yeah, Till." He says letting out a soft chuckle.
"She was your lover?"
"She'd been my lover for years." He says confidently.
"Why didn't you tell us? We would have loved followed your love story!" Caesar says with sadness in his eyes.
"Because, I didn't want you all thinking we were following in our mentors steps. We didn't want everyone glorifying out immanent deaths, we just wanted to spend our last few days together before we left each other."
"That's lovely." Caesar places a hand over his heart.
"Yeah, it was."
"So what's in store for you now? Now that you've won the very last hunger games, will you run for a spot in government? Or get a good job?" He asks cheerfully.
"No, I want to forget all of this. Except Tilly of course." He says letting one tear fall down his cheek.
"Forget? Why? This is an amazing thing you've done here. You should be incredibly proud. Are you not?" He asks.
"No. I'm not." He says blankly.
"Why not?"
"Because she was pregnant. We lost her and the baby. I'll never be able to live with myself knowing my child died because I couldn't save their mother."
"Oh my." The crowd erupts in shrieks and cries. Caesar places a hand over Blaine's who retracts instantly. "I think that'll be all, thank you and congrats." He exits the stage and Peeta and I are waiting for him. He goes to Peeta first, who holds him as his tears fall hard.
"I can't do this guys, I can't." He tells us.
"Come on, let's go upstairs." Peeta says leading him back to our room. We sit on either side of him as he cried into his hands.
"I seriously can't do this, I need help. Or medication or something."
"We can get you something soon, it'll help. But for now you need to learn to cope. It's what we've been doing for years." I say.
"I can't imagine what your going through Blaine, it must be hard. But we're here for you anytime." Peeta says.
"It's like my heart is being stabbed. Worst then my leg in the damned arena, I can't breath at all. The only person i'm sure I love and loves me back is dead. He's dead and gone and she'll never ever come back. It feels like someone has sucked the life right out of me. How do I recover. from that?"
I sigh remembering the time I told Gale to leave in Snows mansion, before his public execution. I didn't love him though, but he was my best friend, my hunting partner, my one time lover. I tried pushing him from my life many times, but it never worked. Because he was meant to be in it, he's meant to be my best friend. It was fate.
Peeta looks at me and a tear rolls down his cheek. "We'll be in our room for a while, knock if you need us." I whisper placing a hand on his shoulder. He nods before taking our seats and curling into a ball.
Peeta hugs me as soon as the door closes letting out a shaky breath. "You see that? That is exactly what I would be like if I ever lost you." He whispers.
