We next day we woke early before the two kids. They slept in, I don't blame them. The pair probably cried theirselves to sleep last night like I did. When we woke, and made our way to the breakfast table, there was a large spread like last nights dinner. I take a seat at the end next to Peeta. Our prep squads come flaunting through the door in crazy colors and fancy makeup. "Oh good morning, good morning." Fluvis sings as he kisses both my cheeks, I return them.
We dish out our own food and I pile on weird combination. Who knew bacon and caviar tasted so good together? Peeta's grimaces then laughs each time I take a bite or make a new combination. "Be respectful." Portia hisses. "She's carrying your child!" Peeta flashes his signature smirk.
"I'm always respectful to her. Don't worry. She's in good hands." His hand lays on my thigh under the table.
"I would hope so." She nods.
"so." Fluvis starts. "Cameras here in two hours for interviews. These ones will be used as trailers for the games, and then we will have three days of training and then an interview with Caesar. They decided this year the mentors would be interviewed too, and of course you two shall go together."
"Naturally." Portia smiles at her plate. A door open and closes and everyone turns their heads to see who's coming. It's Blain, he wears his signature smirk as he comes into the dining hall.
"Good morning." I greet him blandly.
"Good morning Miss Everdeen." He winks looking me up and down.
"God." Peeta mutters as I chuckle and fill my plate fuller.
"You sure can pack it away Katniss." Blaine notes.
"Oh, I'm glad you have eyes Blaine." I say sarcastically. I look to Peeta with a questioning look.
"Guys, we want to tell you before you hear it anywhere else." He takes a deep breath. "I'm guessing most of you already know this, but yes, Katniss is pregnant."
The table erupts in a round of claps and cheers. Tilly appears rubbing her eyes sleepily as she yawns. "What's all the noise about?" She asks quietly.
"Oh. Katniss is pregnant." Blaine says as if it's nothing. "Who's the father?" He asks as if it's anyone but Peeta.
"Well me obviously." Peeta laughs.
"Are you sure?" Blaine persists.
"Of course I'm sure! She hasn't been with anyone but me and-"
I place my hand on his upper arm. "Come on, let's go." I whisper so only he can hear.
We stand together. "So go tell him he's not the father!" Blaine laughs loudly. Peeta's body is tense and he pushes me into the bedroom not so gently.
"Peeta, calm down." I say as I walk backwards holding my hands up to his chest.
"Tell me I'm the father." He scowls.
"Peeta you are! Why would you think your not?" I ask frantically. "Or course your the father! Do you really think id go give myself to someone else?!" I screech as he towers over me.
"I had someone in mind." He grumbles as he shakes his head walking to the window.
"And who's that?" I spit at him angrily.
"Oh don't act like you don't know." I stare at him. "Gale." He finally says.
I stand and walk towards him as I speak to him. "Your insane! I can't believe you sometimes!"
"Good don't! Your not the only one!" He yells back.
"What's that supposed to mean?" I ask.
"Don't worry about it." He snaps.
