I wake to the calming sound of his heartbeat as my head lies on his bare chest. We slept a full night, so did Rye. He managed to not cry once. Everyone in this house is calm this morning. I take a breath and pull the covers farther up our bodies happily. My movement seems to wake him and he looks down at me smiling. "Good morning." He whispers.
"Good morning." He kisses me slowly.
"How are you?" He asks. I giggle a little.
"How am I?" I ask.
"Yeah, are you feeling okay?" Then I get it and smile. He thinks I'm pregnant.
"I'm fine Peeta, you wouldn't be able to tell if I was pregnant for a while anyways." He sighs and rolls his blue eyes. "You did have protection on right?" I ask wearily.
"I uhm..."
I sigh not wanting to hear the answer. "It's okay." I nod sitting up and finding his shirt beside the bed. Carefully I slip it on before talking again. "Sure we wanted to have more kids, but I kind of wanted it to happen on our wedding night. Does that sound strange?" I ask looking at him.
"No, I get it. And I'm sorry it it means anything." He frowns.
"It's okay." I lean in and kiss him. "Can you make breakfast while I feed Rye?" I ask softly.
"Yeah, and then afterwards, I can go to the new store down the street and get you a pregnancy test." I nod and kiss him again, I swear I can't go five minuets without kissing that boy.
We get dressed and I tiptoe in rye's nursery where he lays awake. "Good morning sweet boy." I murmur kissing his nose. "I can't believe you slept all night. Someone's gettin' to be a big boy." I smile talking to him. I feed him quickly then walk downstairs with him in my arms. "Say good morning to daddy." I smile holding him up to Peeta.
"Good morning sweetheart." He smiles kissing his nose like I did. I set him in the height-chair my mother had given to us that was used for me as a child. "So what would you like for breakfast?" He asks.
"Pancakes." I smile.
"Okay." He agrees and I stand to make some hot chocolate.
"Would you like some coffee? Or hot chocolate?" I ask. I don't like hot chocolate, it's too bitter for someone like me. Peeta likes it though, I don't.
"Coffee if you don't mind, I didn't really sleep much last night." I turn away from him and let myself blush. "What?" He laughs wrapping his arms around me. "From what I recall you didn't sleep much either..."
"I slept just fine I'll have you know." He let a smile softly appear as I turn to face him. I lean in and kiss him slowly. When I open my eyes I find Haymitch looking at us through the window. "Oh god." I mumble.
"Is that all you two do?" He grumbles as he lets himself in. "Oh as by the way, the next time you two decide to have sex. Please close your windows." He strains the use of the word please. Peeta bursts out laughing as I turn away my cheeks a new shade of red for me.
"Do you always have to be such an ass?" I scoff and hand him a cup of black coffee.
"It's a talent." He shrugs.
"Oh, it's okay Katniss." Peeta smiles and kisses my temple wrapping an arm around my shoulders. He continues to make breakfast as we sit and talk.
"So why'd you come Haymitch?" I ask.
"Your restraining order papers got put in my mail instead of yours. And I thought I'd drop by and see how my victors were doing." He says slipping a flask from his inside coat pocket and taking a swig.
"Haymitch can I-" Peeta asks pointing to the flask in his hand.
"If you think you can." Haymitch smirks handing it to him. Peeta takes a drink of the alcohol and his face puckers as he rushes to the sink. He spits it up as Haymitch cackles in the corner.
"How do you drink that?!" Peeta exclaims.
"Yeahs of experience my boy." He smirks standing and slipping it back into his inside coat pocket. "I'll be going now." He nods as he opens the door and walks out. Our eyes look to the restraining order papers Haymitch left us.
"We can look over them during breakfast." I nod agreeing with him. We make breakfast together and silently sit down, I sit next to him this time. Usually I sit across from him when we eat. He takes a bite of sausage and starts opening the packet of papers.
He squints as he starts to read the papers. He lays them down and and looks at me. "They gave it to us." He says.
"They did?" I smile perking up.
"Yeah, but they want us to testify to send her to jail.."
"Why is that a problem?" I ask cutting my pancake and eating some.
"There's a letter in her from her."
"Do they have her in custody?" I ask and he nods. "Can I see the letter?"
"Sure." He nods and hands it over.
Peeta and Katniss;
I know we may not be on the best terms as of lately. But I am begging you, please testify for me. I'm not same. They've tested me and told me I'm mentally unstable, I must be in a mental hospital. Please, I know you may not have any good things to say of me. But please, I won't do well in hospital I won't last. Please, do the right thing.
"Oh Peeta." I sigh.
"We should help her." He says, I ball my fists on my lap under the table. He catches my anger on my face and looks at me. "You don't want to help her?" He asks.
"No, I don't. She's insane-"
"Which is more of a reason to help her!" He exclaims. "She's sick."
"Peeta, she tried to kill you! She's stalked us countless times."
"Well Katniss, I think we should think about it. Don't you?" He asks.
"Yeah. I guess. Give it a few days."
"We have till friday." I look to the calendar, it's Wednesday.
So for now, we'll sit and think. Trying to decide the future of our once previous stalker and woman who wants Peeta.
So I know this chapter is short but I haven't posted yet today. Thanks!
