Peeta and I had to wake early. The kids would be waking within the hour. Peeta and I took showers this morning, and for the first time I straightened my hair. Not by myself of course, I called Fluvis in and he did it. I don't like it, it's so unnatural. Peeta says it's beautiful, that he likes it; but I don't at all.

Fluvis braided a part of my hair in the front and pinned it back but the rest is still down. It falls down around my face as I continue to blow it away.

My stomach gurgles as I push the food around on my plate. I'm starving, and so is the baby. Yet my stomach hurts and every time I stand I feel uneasy. Just as I did when I first when into the games. And the second games, except then I knew I had Peeta no matter what. I knew everything was coming to an end and something was going to come out of it at the end.

"You should eat." Peeta mumbles eating a spoonful of spinach eggs. "It's not good for the baby." He says knowing right where to hit me to make me eat.

I sigh and take a bite of toast. My body seems to sigh relieved it's getting nutrition, but in reality I want to vomit. The more I eat the better I feel and soon enough our tributes emerge from the same room. It was bound to happen, I heard Tilly's screams and cries last night. They sit down at the table and look at me slowly. "So, what do we do?" Blaine asks quickly.

"What do you do?" I repeat. "What do you mean?"

"In the games. When it starts. In an hour." He says hatefully.

"You run away from the center." Peeta starts saying. "It'll be a bloodbath, if you can grab a backpack on the way out do it. But don't risk your life rushing for a weapon, usually there is some sort of weapon on the pack. But ok the chance there isn't, make a spear."

"Tilly, I know you won't but don't rush for a bow right off the start." I add and she nods.

"Don't ever light a fire at night, stay hidden in the trees. Try not to extort yourself in the first few hours. People will be moving and hunting then; just run from the cornucopia and find water. It's your next best friend." I listen to Peeta tell them.

Once everyone is done, our prep teams arrive to dress them. Their in simple clothes, a layer of skintight undergarments, running shoes, and a layer of outer wear. Which is a think jacket and dark cargo pants. I walk with Tilly to her pad as Peeta walks somewhere else to another craft with Blaine. We stop at the bottom and I look at her. "You can do this, you are stronger then you think you are." Her body shutters as she looks at me. "Here." I whisper before pressing my black mockingjay pin into her palm. "It'll keep you safe." She still looks at me. "You have layers so it'll probably be hot, some sort of desert or something."

She nods and I kiss her cheek. "Stay alive." I whisper before she walks int the craft. I hurry to meet Peeta back with the other mentors. He grabs my hands and hugs me subtly.

"Tilly is pregnant." He whispers.

I knew it, that poor girl. I nod into his shoulder and look at him sadly. "she's so young, now she'll loose the baby and her life." I just barely whisper.

"We'll talk about it later." I agree and sit down with him and the other tributes. I smile at everyone so glad we can finally talk to one and another again. Coin gives the speech to kick off the games and then the large screens show them.

They come up from the tubes and they stay with Blaine. His head swivels quickly before his eyes land on Tilly and his body relaxes. I snuggle into Peeta as we sit in the mentors movie theater. I am situated in the corner with Peeta next to me.

The count down starts. "Ten...nine...eight... Seven.... Six....five...four.. Three."

The entire world slows. When the gong chimes and the tributes start running Tilly stands still. When everything hits her, a large girl is running at her with a knife. "Come here Overmay!" She hisses.

A knife is thrown killing the chaser and a cannon sounds. Blaine is the one to throw the knife. "Go Tilly! Get!"

Blaine takes a sword to the leg, the wound is deep but he seems fine for now. As this is a screening room for mentors, each tribute has their own small part of the screen; ours is the bottom right. My eyes are wide open as we loose six tributes at the start.

Both Tilly and Blaine managed to get a backpack somehow. Blaine's wound is showing to be no difficulty as he walks perfectly fine in the opposite direction of Tilly.

It's been three hours of walking before Tilly finds a tree and climbs into it. The sun is starting to set and she opens her backpack to see what's in it.

From what I see she has need strips, dried fruit, matches, iodine tablets, and an empty water bottle. She tries to drink from it but it's empty and she leans against the tree. Her hands slowly rub her stomach and she begins to breath deep.

"Is she okay?" I whisper to Peeta.

"I think she's talking to the baby." He whispers into my hair. I nod and there's a forty five minuet break of the show. The games will continue but the program will just be a bit behind. Nothing is happening anyways, they are beginning to sleep and settle down for the night. Peeta leads me to main lobby, the food courts are directly below here. "I'm going to get something to eat, do you want something?" He asks.

"Get me whatever."

He nods. "The line is kind of long Gale said so I'll meet you back at our seats in half an hour?" I nod and pull him towards me. I see the cameras and paparazzi next to us and kiss him slowly. An eruption of light and flashes and clicks erupts beside us and people hoot and holler. I pull back and kiss him one last time quickly.

"See you in thirty." I smile before gently pushing him in the direction of the stairs.

The paparazzi yell my name asking me to do interviews. I'll do one quick one then go find Gale or somebody. "Hello." I smile a them. I sigh and feel relaxed, unlike most times i'm so uptight.

"Hello Katniss! How are you?" A perky woman with hair colored like the rainbow asks.

"I'm great thank you!"

"So are the pregnancy rumors true? Are you really pregnant?" She asks.

"Yes I am, I just hit five months a few days ago."

"That's amazing! And are you and Peeta planning to have more kids after this?" She asks her hair bouncing as she speaks.

"Uhm, this one was kind of unplanned so I think he'll have a tough time convincing me again." I joke.

"Well I'm sure we'd love to see more baby Mellarks running around." I laugh in response. "So how are you holding up after the war? Are you coping alright?"

I sigh and nod. "Sure it could be easier, but just like everyone else I'm getting along."

"Well I'm glad to hear that. Thank you for taking time to speak with me."

"Of course." I nod before dipping back to the other mentors.

I find Peeta and we eat our food together before heading back to the theater. I move the arm rest between us so he can slide an arm around me. I cuddle into his arms and sigh not wanting to watch the rest of the first day unfold.

I do, I need you. #wattys2016Where stories live. Discover now
