Finnick's Bears.

Katniss's POV;

We've just finished cooking the birds when everyone finally wakes. I smile extra long at Cressida and then Gale when they wake up. They quickly part and make little to no eye contact at all. I call her over quietly and she sits down fiddling with her hands. "So, you and Gale." I smile.

"Me and Gale." She nods.

"How long has I been?" I ask.

"Since Coin arranged the squad. He was our trainer and I guess it was instant."

"You guess?" I ask.

"I don't want love. Gale's an amazing guy, don't get me wrong. But I can tell he still loves you. And I can't compete for his affection with you. I know he'll always want you."

"Cressida." I whisper. "If he still loved me he wouldn't be with you."

"I guess." She shrugs. Gale stands and comes over to us sitting down. He sits next to her and I smirk obviously. I hear Peeta talking to Finn and I turn to watch. He lifts him up swinging him around then placing him in the soft grass. He lays down and lifts him into the air talking gibberish to him. I feel a single tear fall down and Cressida places her bad on my shoulder. Before she has the chance to talk I stand and make my way over to them. I watch them from far back until he motions me towards him.

Finn reaches his arms to me and I involuntarily take him. My body is stiff and Finn drools onto my shirt. "P-Peeta." I whisper. "Take him." Peeta takes him from my arms and wipes the drool from my chest.

"All better." He whisper. I watch him with Finn and he seems so natural.

"You really love kids huh?" I ask.

"Yeah." He kids sitting down cuddling him in his lap. "I just want to have something that's mine. That I know we'll never mess up. I know we'd be great parents." He explains. "I only want them when your ready though Kat."

I smile at his nickname. "Kat? Is that my new nickname?" I tease.

"Yeah. I was trying it out." He shrugs. "You want me to stop?"

"No Peet" I joke poking his cheeks. "Peet, Peet, Peet." He laughs pulling me into his lap and caresses my face gently. I hold his hand up to mine and compare the sizes. His fingers are so much larger than mine, callused and hard. "How can someone so strong, and muscular, tough, and big be so gentle and soft?" I whisper as he intertwines our fingers and I lean into his chest.

"It takes a special woman to do that." He notes. "Only the one true soulmate can break a man's shell." I smile at his words and kiss him slowly.

Almost as quick as it started, Gales yelling at us that it's time to move. Everyone fills their pockets with roasted meat and Annie puts Finn in the special sheet she made. Finnick stands next to her and takes his hand in her's as they walk. "We have to walk about ten miles today if we can." Gale announces. "We need to be as far away from the district as possible."

Everyone groans but nods. As we walk, my suit is starting to dig into my leg. I groan and keep going. Peeta wraps his hands in mine.

Suddenly someone screams. It's not a woman though, it's a man. Finnick. I loose all the blood in my body as I watch a large bear run up and bite into his torso. Finnick pushes Annie and Finn away from the rabid animal and continues to scream. "FINNICK!" Annie yells. "SOMEONE HELP HIM!"

My arrow hits dead in the head but I soon see more figures following. "This is weird." I hear Gale whisper in my ear. "Bears don't travel in packs, ever." I nod and them realization sets in.

"They know we're gone. Their mutts." I whisper. "Everyone climb. Now!" I order.

I force Peeta to go first since he has no armor. Annie refuses to leave Finnick's side but there's more bears coming. Peeta pulls her up with him and I stand next to Finnick shooting the animals. He whimpers next to me and just as the last few bears approach us; I feel a grip on my foot. "MUTT!" He screams. "YOUR A NO GOOD FILTHY MUTT." He pushes me towards the bears and my bow flies from my hand.

Peeta screams my name. Finnick stands blood falling from his mouth. "FINNICK NO. ITS NOT REAL!" I scream. The bears approach faster and Finnick's fist connects with my face more than five times. I cry in pain and just as he's about to jump back on me, the animals pull him and run back into the woods. Annie screams, then I do too. 

He's gone, the mutts left. They had their blood and death and ran. I turn around and feel the blood falling from my face. I'm the lease of everyone's concerns right now.

Peeta has Finn in the same cocoon Annie had him in. He pleads for him to stop crying while everyone consoles Annie. "He was having a flashback." Haymitch notes. "He wasn't in the right mind, probably had no idea there were bears."

She looks up at me with sad eyes. "Annie I'm-"

"Don't." She sobs.

And I realize I've lose two allies. Two friends, two young people with so much potential.

Finnick's dead because of me. Everyone I love is dead. And it won't be long till I am too. I begin to cough and blood flies through the air.

I feel warmth traveling down my face and arms. "Katniss!" Peeta gasps. Finn is handed to Johanna. And he runs to my side keeping me from falling.

"Thanks." I mumble.

"Look here." He sobs. "Look!" He repeats when I don't answer.

I look and he pulls his sleeve and starts to wipe the blood. "Ow! Peeta I'm fine. Stop it!" I shriek pushing away his hand away.

"Quit it." He snaps. "It needs fixed." I feel my breaths getting shaky and unsteady.

"I killed Finnick." I whisper. "I-I killed my friend." I start to sob.

"No no no Katniss." He coos. "You didn't, you can't help what happened." He pulls me into his arms. I back up and stare at him.

"I'm a terrible person. I told you! Everyone I love dies!"' I push his hands away and run for the cliff.

"Katniss! Stop! Don't you fucking dare!" He screams angrily at me.

Although I've never heard him this angry, I continue to run. I loose my footing by the lake and fall in.

My head hits something hard; and that's when everything turns black.
