It's a hassle for Bert to get me to fall asleep.

But I woke up one morning

holding him.

the itchy feeling was back again

and I reached to scratch my calf.

I felt like I had crushed something.

Then I hear a c r a c k.

I gasped

and looked at my leg

there,

I smushed an ant.

I stopped breathing

and my heart was beating

I think it could have

burst out of my chest if I wasn't careful.

I was hyperventilating now.

Bert heard

my torment

and looked at my leg.

"They're all over my body."

I cried, rubbing my hands all over my body.

"the itch won't go away. Bert, I think I can hear them crawling inside my ears."

Bert brushed the dead carcass off my leg, and moved my hands from clawing out my ears.

"Gerard. Calm down. it was only one ant. There aren't any on your body."

I'm not listening

I know I'm right

I know I can feel it.

"I want to be clean." I beg,

"Please..."

He sat me up.

"come on."

--

Bert started the water

and it spewed out the shower head.

"Is it too hot?" He asked.

I shook my head.

"Are there any ants around my body?"

Bert studied

every atom

of me.

"No," He smiled, "not at all."

I looked down at my feet.

There were no ants in the water.

I turned back at Bert

Who had his shirt off.

and was now taking off the rest of his clothes.

"Is there room for two?"

I laughed

and nodded.

He stepped in

and stroked my hair.

"Your hair was always my favorite thing about you," He cooed.

We kissed

for the first time

in what felt like decades.

Bert ran his hand around my thighs, chest, and back.

Every kiss he gave

felt electric,

and I only wanted more.

He pulled at my leg,

and lifted me up against the wall.

I felt him inside me,

and he had started to kiss my neck.

We were both moaning

a little bit.

The steamy water that pelted our bodies

only made that feel

more pleasurable.

And I just noticed

how beautiful Bert's face really was

up close.

all the way to his blue eyes,

to the way his lips curled when

he smiled.

Today,

I felt clean.
