I slammed my hands onto the table,
"Admit it, you like Patrick."

Pete gave me a look of shock.

Patrick wasn't here today.

He caught a bug of some sort.

Pete insisted upon staying with him until he got better,

But instead Patrick told him that he was overreacting,
That he could take care of himself.

So he insisted that Pete
Stayed out.

He didn't want to even see his face until he got over it.

Of course,

It depressed him a bit.

He wasn't admitting anything to me, however.

"It's obvious. or at least for me.
You're always touching him and telling him how nice he looks.
Confess, Pete.
You. Like. Patrick."

"Is it that obvious???" He asked.
His tone was really anxious.

"For me it is."
Did he not hear me the first time?

I clenched my hands together,
"Pete, are you in love with him?"

"I'm head over heels for him. I love him, to his hair, is happy personality, his laugh, all the way to the way he dresses. He's all I ever think about. He's all I want to be with. I would kill just to sleep with him. But..."

He grew quiet,

"But I think he's straight."

That was a heart wrenching tale.

It even hurt me.

Damn empathy.

"Unrequited love is a bitch." I said.

He just stared at the table.

I was waiting for the eyeliner to make black rivers down his cheeks.

Pete wears thicker eyeliner than I do.

And I don't get it,
But,
He somehow makes it work.

Instead, he agreed.
"I know someone else who has been dealing with conflicts with unrequited love?"

Dear god please don't let it-

"That Bert McCracken guy."

Fuck.

"He told me you had a boyfriend and he was so violent. He's crushing on you hard."

I sighed, "I can tell."

And speak of the devil,

That's when he arrived.

Last night was fun

And I understand that

Love can make you do things

That you wouldn't have done

If you weren't blinded by it.

But at the same time

There has to be a balance.

Too much or too little love can destroy you

Either way.

I left Pete,

telling him that I needed to ask Bert something.
