Alice's P.O.V
September 17, 1970
I had brought Ethel to the hospital because she needed to get her flu shot. Ethel wasn't too happy about but honestly, I wasn't either. I hated needles but Ethel didn't need to know that.
"Mommy, I don't want needles" Ethel said
"And I don't want you to get sick. You're getting this flu shot" I said. Ethel let out a 'hmph' and crossed her arms over her chest. As we waited, a very pregnant woman sat beside me. I looked over at her and realized that it was Maureen.
"Mo?" I said. She looked over at me and smiled.
"Alice! Fancy meeting you here!" Maureen said
"Hi Auntie Mo" Ethel said
"Hi, little one. What are you doing here?" Maureen asked
"Mommy is making me get shots" Ethel said
"Well she doesn't want you to get sick. It's a good idea to get them so you don't" I said
"See Ethel. Even auntie Mo thinks it's a good idea that you get those shots" I said
"So where's Paul and Mary?" Maureen asked
"They're at home. He offered to stay because my dads at home making a recovery from getting hit by a car" I said
"Oh my, that's terrible" Maureen said
"But he's doing okay now. He's walking which is a good thing. What are you doing here Mo? Did your water break but you're actually calm about it?" I asked
"No. It's just my last ultrasound before the baby is born. She did exactly two months from now" Maureen said
"Is it a boy or a girl?" I asked
"Girl. We're going to name her Lee" Maureen said
"Where's Ringo?" I asked. Maureen let out a sigh.
"He's out. He told me he'd meet me here" Maureen said
"Is everything okay Mo?" I asked
"Yeah, it's just ever since The Beatles broke up, our marriage isn't what it used to be. I still love Ringo but he's drinking to much and he's being a really absent father to Zak and Jason" Maureen said
"I'm sorry Mo" I said. I rubbed her arm and she showed me a smile.
"How are you and Paul doing?" Maureen asked
"Our marriage is like a magic. I think we're more in love now than when we were just boyfriend and girlfriend" I said
"That's great Alice. Maybe after we're both done, I could bring the kids by and we could visit for a bit" Maureen said
"I'd love that Maureen" I said. A nurse entered the waiting room.
"Alice and Ethel McCartney" the nurse said.
"That's us" I said. I stood up and Ethel did the same thing, taking my hand.
"I'll wait for you" Maureen said
"Sure thing. If you're not out here when we're done, I'll wait for you" I said
"Sounds good" Maureen said

We were taken to a room. Ethel wanted me to sit with her on the patient bed, so I did. She sat on my lap, playing with a necklace that Paul gave me.
"It's a pretty necklace mom" Ethel said
"Thank you. Daddy gave it to me" I said
"Daddy told me to not be scared of needles. He said it only feels like a pinch" Ethel said
"Well daddy is right. It only feels like a pinch" I said. Not to me. Getting a shot for me feels like sticking your arm in a jar of barbed wire with lemon juice and salt. The doctor entered with the needle and the vaccine.
"Hello girls. How are you today?" the doctor asked
"We're fine. Ethel is a little scared" I said
"No I'm not. I'm going to be brave!" Ethel said
"Good. It's not to often we get the brave kids. Well actually, we get more brave kids than adults" the doctor said. The doctor grabbed a wipe and cleaned the area on Ethel's arm. He then got the needle and everything ready. When he walked over with the needle, I looked at it. I didn't even like looking a needles. It just made me feel so uneasy.
"I'm going to stick the needle in now" the doctor said. Ethel nodded. When the doctor put the needle in her arm, she didn't even flinch. She had more guts than I did.
"And we're done" the doctor said. Ethel looked at the spot where the doctor put the needle in.
"That was fast and it didn't even hurt" Ethel said. She hopped off of my lap.
"Alright, if we're done here, we'll get going" I said
"Not so fast. You still need to get a shot Mrs. McCartney" the doctor said.
"Uh...n-no thank you. My immune system is pretty strong" I said
"Are you afraid of needles?" the doctor asked.
"What!? No!" I said. The doctor raised his eyebrow.
"Okay fine. I'm afraid of needles" I said
"That's what I thought. If you're daughter can do it, you can do it" the doctor said. The doctor grabbed a clean needle and prepared the vaccine. I nervously watched as he did so. Ethel walked over to me and grabbed my hand.
"Don't be scared mommy" Ethel said. I smiled at her.
"I'm not anymore" I said. If my six years old daughter is brave enough to get a shot and not even flinch, than I should be brave as well.

Everything with the doctor was taken care of and then we waited for Maureen. She picked up Zak and Jason from their babysitter and then we went to mom and dad's house.
"Are you and Paul going to get another house in London?" Maureen asked
"I don't know. After my dad's better and everything, we're most likely going to go back to Scotland" I said. We reached the house. I saw a letter underneath the door.
"I wonder who this is from" I said. I grabbed it and then unfolded it. I began to read it.
Hello slut. It's been a while since we last talked. Remember at your dad's wedding when I said I'd get you back? Well I'm going to make your life a living hell. I was the one who hit your dad with the car. I tried to kill him but it didn't work but he suffered in pain which was good enough for me. You suffered emotionally which was a bonus for me. I'm not done yet. I'm going to take my baby back from you and that husband of yours would be much better off with me. You better watch your back.
Nellie
"That bitch" I said
"What is it?" Maureen asked
"You remember Nellie?" I asked
"The woman who you threw up on?" Maureen asked.
"Yeah. Well this letter is from her. She's the one who hit my dad with the car. She thinks Ethel is her child and she wants to take her away from and now she's interested in my husband! What kind of woman is she!?" I said
"Don't let her get to your head Alice. You're better than she is!" Maureen said
"I know. She's a worthless, gold digging, child stealing, slutty bitch" I said
"Maybe you should call Cynthia, Pattie and Jane. You know us girls have your back like we always have" Maureen said. I smiled.
"Thanks Maureen" I said. No way was I letting that cow going to ruin my life. Unlike Nellie, I had friends that will be by my side no matter what.
I started another fanfic. It's about if The Beatles were female. It was an idea that's been in my head for awhile so I wanted to write it. It's called The Beatlettes.~Emma
