Alice's P.O.V
October 15, 1971
It's been five days since Helen's breakup. She was really upset about it. During those five days, she never came out of her room. The only time she really was to use the bathroom or to get something to eat. Ethel was really worried about her. She was also the only person Helen would let in the room. Ethel would do anything she could to make Helen feel better. Sometimes she would draw her a picture or I'd hear Ethel singing to Helen.
Tonight Paul and I decided to go out for dinner. It's been awhile since we've done so. As I was getting ready, I could beat Ethel telling Helen a story, and I heard Helen laugh. I smiled to myself. That's the first time she's laughed in five days. Then I got an idea.
"Love, can you help me with this?" Paul asked, walking over to me with his tie hanging around his neck. He stood in front of me and I began to help him with his tie.
"How long has it been since you last wore a tie?" I asked
"Awhile" Paul said with a shrug. When I finished with his tie, Paul grabbed my hands in his.
"You look absolutely beautiful, love" Paul said, before pressing a kiss to my lips. I smiled and rested my head against his chest.
"Thanks, my handsome Paulie" I said. He wrapped his arms around me and embraced me.
"Paul?" I said
"Yes, love?" Paul asked
"I know this night was just supposed to be the two of us but I think we should invite Helen. Maybe it'll make her feel better" I said
"I wouldn't mind her coming along" Paul said. I smiled and kissed him again.
"Great. I'll to talk to her" I said. I left the room and walked up to Helen's door. I knocked on it. Not even a moment later, Ethel answered it.
"Hi mommy" Ethel said
"Hi Princess Ethel. May I speak to the Queen?" I asked
"Okay" Ethel said. She grabbed my hand and took me inside. Helen, who was sitting on her bed, looked up at me.
"Hi Alice. How can I help you?" Helen asked
"Well, I've been talking to Paul and we think it'd be great if you came to dinner with us" I said
"I don't know. I wouldn't want to be the third wheel" Helen said
"You wouldn't Helen, and besides, this is a great chance to try and meet someone else" I said
"Alright. I'll go to dinner with you and Paul but I'm not talking to any other guys. I don't want to talk to any other guys and possibly get my heart broken again. At least not yet" Helen said
"Alright. Let me know when you're ready to go then" I said. Helen nodded and started looking for something to wear.
"Come on Ethel. Let's give Helen some privacy so she can get dressed" I said. Ethel nodded and we walked out of her room.
"Mommy?" Ethel asked
"Yes?" I said
"I think Helen is starting to feel better" Ethel said. I smiled at my daughter.
"I think so too" I said

As soon as we got to the restaurant, we were guided to our table. Paul and I sat on one side while Helen sat on the other.
"Thanks for joining us Helen" Paul said. Helen looked up at both of us and smiled.
"Well Alice insisted that I did" Helen said. Our waiter walked up to our table.
"Hello. I'll be your waiter this evening. What can I get you?" he said, not taking his eyes off of Helen. I smirked at the sight. He was totally interested in Helen. Too bad she wasn't knowing.
"I'm good with some water" Helen said, not looking up from her menu. The waiter nodded and wrote down the order. He then looked at Paul and I.
"And for you two?" the waiter asked.
"Some wine please" Paul said. The waiter nodded and then left.
"Now love, I want you to go easy on the wine. I know what you're like when you get drunk" Paul said
"You've never seen me drunk" I said
"Yeah but I've heard stories" Paul said. Helen laughed at us.
"I swear, you two are the best couple ever" Helen said.
~
All throughout dinner, the waiter kept coming to our table to try and flirt with Helen. He even found it adorable when she was scarfing down this huge slice of chocolate cake. It was huge and Helen is so tiny. Where the hell did it all go? When he came by with the bill, he gave Helen a piece of paper with his number on it. She didn't even notice that.
I was drunk off my mind when we were leaving the restaurant. Paul held my hand as he guided me out so I wouldn't stumble and fall on my face.
"Are we going home?" I slurred
"Yes. We're just waiting for Helen" Paul said. I smiled at Paul and leaned in for a kiss. I somehow completely missed him and almost fell over. Luckily, Paul was there to catch.
"You are really drunk, love" Paul said
"And you're really sexy" I said. Helen joined us outside.
"Are we ready to go home?" Helen asked
"Yes, and then it's off to bed for Alice" Paul said
"I don't want to go to bed!" I whined
"If you weren't so drunk, then maybe you wouldn't have to go to bed" Paul said.
"Fine. I'll go to bed" I said, pouting my lips.
~
As soon as we got home, Paul went to go check on Ethel, Mary and Stella. Helen went up to her room and I followed her.
"Helen, what's your deal?" I asked
"What do you mean?" Helen asked
"The waiter! He was flirting with you all night but you were too oblivious to see it!" I said
"I noticed he was flirting with me Alice, but as I said to sober you, I'm not ready for a relationship yet" Helen said
"Well, I think you-" I didn't even finish my sentence as I passed out on Helen's bed. Helen laughed and tucked me in.
"Goodnight Alice" Helen said, patting my head and leaving the room.
This chapter is reposted! I made a few changes but it's the same idea for the chapter.
Question for you guys! Because I really want to keep this book going but this is the last main one in the series and then Ethel's spin off, I was thinking there should be like a Palice picture book. So if any of you have any photo editing skill, please feel free to submit your Palice pictures. If you have any questions or if you need my e-mail, please message me. All the details will be in the introductory of the picture book~Emma
