Chapter 108

Alice's P.O.V

September 24, 1973

I woke up in the morning with Paul's arm wrapped around my waist. I managed to turn around and face him. I stared at him for a couple of minutes until his eyes fluttered open. When his eyes caught mine, he smiled.

"You like staring at me, don't you?" Paul asked

"I love staring at you. You're gorgeous" I said.

"I think you're even more gorgeous" Paul said. His face slowly inched closer to mine. I placed my hand on his cheek, and his lips soon touched mine. We kissed for a few moments, before Paul pulled away and nuzzled into my neck.

"I need to make a birthday cake for Linda. Do you want to help me?" I asked.

"I'd love to" Paul mumbled against my neck.

"Let's get up then. I want to start on it before Linda gets up" I said. When I moved away from Paul, I heard him let out a sigh.

"What's wrong Paulie?" I asked

"I was enjoying our cuddle" Paul said. I smiled and giggled.

"I was too but the cake isn't going to bake itself" I said.

I was in charge of making the actual cake while Paul worked on the icing. Just as I was about to put the cake in the oven, Paul walked over to me with the rubber spatula.

"Can you taste this for me, love?" Paul asked. I nodded. Paul held the spatula up to my mouth. I opened my mouth and I allowed my tongue to taste the icing. I closed my eyes and moaned at the exquisite taste.

"Paulie, that's the best icing I've ever tasted" I said

"Better than me even?" Paul asked with a cheeky grin.

"Maybe just a bit" I said. Paul grabbed the spatula from me and licked some icing off of it.

"You still taste better" Paul commented with a wink.

"Naughty boy" I said. He wrapped his arm around my waist and brought me into a passionate kiss.

"You two better not start going at it" Linda's voice broke us out of our kiss. We both looked at her.

"Happy birthday Lin" I said

"Thanks" she said

"We thought you'd be sleeping in" Paul said

"Heather woke us up. She likes wishing me happy birthday early" Linda said. I smiled as I put the cake in the even and Paul put the icing in the fridge.

"Do you mind checking the mail for us Linda?" I asked. She raised an eyebrow at me but nodded.

"I suppose so" Linda said. She left for the mailbox.

"Why do you want Linda to get the mail?" Paul asked

"I slipped a couple of birthday cards in there. Also, the girls drew a picture for her" I said. When Linda came back, she had a handful of mail.

"I see there are birthday cards and a lovely picture from Ethel, Mary and Stella. Oh, and there were these. One is addressed to Alice and the other is addressed to both of you" Linda said. She handed the letter addressed to myself to me, and the one for both of us to Paul.

"Open yours first, love" Paul said. I opened up the letter.

"Dear Mrs. Alice McCartney. We are pleased to inform you that you have been nominated for Best Actress for your performance in Live and Let Die. We hope to see you at the 46th annual Academy Awards on April 2, 1974" I read the letter.

"Alice! You've just been nominated for an Oscar!" Linda said.

"I'm so proud of you, love" Paul said.

"I can't believe it! My first Oscar nomination! Paul, open the other letter" I said. He did as I asked him to.

"Dear Mr. Paul McCartney and Mrs. Alice McCartney. We are pleased to inform you that your song Live And Let Die has been nominated for Best Original Song. We hope to see you at the 46th annual Academy Awards on April 2, 1974" Paul read.

"You're both nominated for Oscars! This is so exciting!" Linda said. Paul and I looked to each other and smiled.

"Should we go when the time comes?" I asked

"Of coarse! If you win the Oscar for best actress, I want you to be there. If we win the Oscar for best Original Song, I want us to be there to receive it together" Paul said

"Alright then. Linda, hearing the news of us being nominated for Best Original Song makes we want to give you your gift now. It's got me all excited" I said

"Alright" Linda said with a slight giggle. I grabbed her hand and brought her down into the basement where her gift was waiting.

"Why is my gift down here?" Linda asked

"Because this was the only place big enough where I could hide it without you finding it" I said. I didn't let go of her hand until I brought her over to her gift.

"And here it is!" I said. Linda looked at and smiled at her very own keyboard.

"My own keyboard?" she asked.

"Yep! It's from both Paul and I. Do you like it?" I asked

"I love it! Thank you so much!" Linda said. She brought me into an almost bone crushing hug.

"Can't breathe" I gasped dramatically. Linda laughed and let go of me.

"Alice, you really are the greatest friend in the world. I'm glad your my best friend" Linda said

"I'm glad you're mine as well" I said.

When we went back to the kitchen, the kids were all eating breakfast and Paul was talking to Joseph.

"Really!? That's wonderful news!" Joseph said.

"Did you tell him of our nominations?" I asked

"Sure did" Paul said

"I hope both of you win. You definitely deserve to. You both worked really hard" Joseph said

"I don't care about winning honestly. It's just an honour to be nominated" I said

"Alice is right" Paul said

"We know, but Joseph as I think you two are definitely going to win" Linda said.

"What do you think, love? Are we?" Paul asked

"We'll find out when the time comes" I said
