Alice's P.O.V
Pattie and I continued talking to each other in the kitchen when Cynthia joined us.
"Morning girls" Cynthia greeted
"Morning Cyn" Pattie said
"Can I ask you a question Cyn?" I asked her. She nodded and joined us at the table.
"What's your question?" Cynthia asked
"How often does Julian talk about Ethel?" I asked
"My goodness! He does not shut up about her! Julian has a crush on Ethel. He told me himself" Cynthia said
"Funny you say that because Ethel has a crush on Julian" I said
"Really?" Cynthia asked
"She does" I said.
"Yes! I knew it! I knew someday they would be together!" Cynthia said. Pattie leaned in close to my ear.
"I can just picture Cyn if Ethel and Julian get married someday" Pattie whispered.
"It's so cute that they like each other!" Cynthia cheered.
"Who likes each other?" Paul asked when he joined us.
"Julian is going to be your son in law Paul!" Cynthia said. Paul raised an eyebrow and looked at me. I stood up from my chair, and walked over to Paul. I wrapped my arms around him and he did the same to me.
"What does she mean?" Paul asked
"Well, Cyn said that Julian has a crush on Ethel and she just found out that Ethel has a crush on Julian. Cynthia is already planning their wedding" I said
"I can't help it! I've been wanting them together since they met" Cynthia said
"Well they need to go on a date first" I said
"My baby girl isn't dating until she's fifty. That goes for Mary and Stella as well" Paul said
"Paul!" I said
"Fine. Forty five" Paul said.
"Well, I'd like grandchildren some day and I want Ethel to be the first to give me grandchildren" I said
"Julian would be giving you grandchildren too" Cynthia said
"Good gracious Cyn! You won't shut up about them, will you?" Pattie said
"Nope, and nothing is going to make me" Cynthia said
"What if we set them up on a date today?" I suggested
"No, no. I don't think so!" Paul said.
"Why not?" Cynthia asked.
"Yeah, why not Paul?" I asked
"Because she's my little girl" Paul said
"Well, she's going to be nine a couple of days. She's going to be dating soon anyways" I said
"Fine, but I'm going to have a little chat with Julian first" Paul said
"He's ten, Paul" I said.
"I know, I just want to make sure he won't be breaking my little girl's heart" Paul said
"Fine" I said. Paul smiled and kissed my forehead before walking off. I then turned to look at Pattie and Cynthia.
"Paul is such a protective father" Pattie commented
"I can't wait for the day Mary and Stella bring home their boyfriends. I can just picture Paul staring them down and asking uncomfortable questions" Cynthia said.
"I can picture that too honestly" I said

Later in the day, Linda, Joseph and the kids arrived. I told Linda about Ethel and Julian's date today. When it came time to get Ethel ready, she decided to help.
"Mommy, what is a date?" Ethel asked, while Linda brushed Ethel's hair.
"When two people like each other, like you and Julian do, they go on a date so they can spend time together" I explained
"Julian likes me too?" Ethel asked
"He does. He has a crush on you just like you have a crush on him" I said. Ethel let a smile show.
"Where is Julian?" Ethel asked
"I believe your daddy is talking to Julian right now" I said
"Why?" Ethel asked
"Because your daddy can get overprotective of you. Your other dad gets overprotective of Heather when she mentions any boy" Linda said
"Daddy can trust Julian. We've been best friends since I was a baby" Ethel said
"You two have, haven't you?" Linda said
"We have mommy Linda" Ethel said.
"You two are really close friends. You've even kissed a couple of times" I said
"Aww. That's so sweet!" Linda said
"It was just quick pecks on the lips" Ethel said
"It's still cute though" Linda said
"Just wait until you're older. A kiss will mean so much more to you" I said. Linda finished brushing Ethel's hair.
"You look so pretty" Linda said
"Are you ready for your first date with Julian?" I asked
"Yes mommy" Ethel said
"Have fun, alright? When you come back, I want to hear all about it" Linda said

Paul and I were the one's supervising Ethel and Julian's date. We just took them to the park. Paul and I laid out a blanket and sat down on it while we watched the two children.
"So, what did you say to Julian earlier?" I asked
"I was just telling him that if he's going to date my daughter, he will treat her kindly like a gentleman should" Paul said
"You know Julian would never do anything but to hurt Ethel. Those two have been best friends since the day Ethel was born" I said
"I know. I trust Julian" Paul said. We watched as Ethel and Julian held hands, and walked around. They wouldn't stop smiling.
"Paul?" I said
"Yes, love?" Paul replied
"Do you think they love each other?" I asked
"Maybe, they just don't realize it yet" Paul said. They stopped walking so Julian could pick a flower. Once he picked it, he gave it to Ethel. She took it from him and thanked him by giving him a kiss. It was just a quick peck but it was still adorable.
"Aww, they kissed!" I said
"Was it under three seconds?" Paul asked. I playfully hit his arm.
"Paul, it was just a quick peck. They weren't making out" I said
"I know but she's my daughter. It's my job as a father to be protective of my children" Paul said
"I know. It's also your job as my husband" I said. Paul smiled and gently kissed me.
"And it's the best job in the world" he said. I smiled and turned my head just in time to see Julian pecking Ethel on the lips once more.
