Chapter 42

Alice's P.O.V

December 8, 1971

I woke up before anyone else that morning. I knew I wouldn't be the only one up for much longer though. Stella liked to get up really early and cry until someone got her. I got to her room just as she opened her eyes.

"Morning Stella" I said. I picked her up and brought her down into the kitchen. I sat her down in her chair and then began preparing her bottle.

"Guess who you get to meet today Stella?" I asked. She made a little noise.

"That's right. Auntie Linda, Uncle Joseph, and your brothers and sisters. They're not related to you though but they are close enough to be considered your siblings. Ethel on the other hand, is related to all of them. They're all her half-siblings except Heather. Heather is her step-sister" I explained to Stella. I sat down beside her and began to feed her.

"You know, you're Ethel's half sister. You two share the same mommy, which is me. Your daddy's are different. Paul is your birth father while Ethel's birth father is Uncle Joseph" I said.

"What about Uncle Joseph?" Ethel said as she walked in the kitchen. Did she hear me say that her birth father is Joseph? She walked over to me, rubbing her eyes.

"Nothing sweetie. Just that he and Auntie Linda are coming over" I said

"Does that mean Heather is coming over too?" Ethel asked.

"It does. Is your sister still sleeping?" I asked. Ethel shook her head.

"Mary woke up. That's why I came to get you" Ethel said

"Alright. I'll go get her. Are you alright watching Stella?" I asked. Ethel nodded. I kissed her forehead and went to go get Mary. When I got to her room, Martha woke up. She was always sleeping in the girls' room.

"Morning Martha" I said, giving her a pet. I then walked over to Mary, seeing that she was already waiting for me.

"Morning Mary. Let's get you downstairs with your sisters and prepare for Uncle Joseph and Auntie Linda's visit" I said.

Paul and I were in the kitchen making lunch. That came to a halt however, when Ethel bolted in.

"Mommy! Daddy!" Ethel said. Both Paul and I turned to look at her.

"What is it, little one?" Paul asked

"Auntie Linda and Uncle Joseph are here!" Ethel said. She ran out of the kitchen. Paul and I followed her.

"Auntie! Uncle!" Heather said, running up to us and hugging both of us.

"Hi Heather" I said

"How are you?" Paul asked

"I'm good" Heather said. Linda walked up to us.

"Heather was really excited to see you guys" Linda said

"Well, we're happy to see her" I said, ruffling Heather's hair.

"I'd really love to meet Stella" Joseph said as he joined us.

"Of coarse. I'll go wake her from her nap" I said

"Do you mind if I go with you? I need to talk to you about something" Joseph said. He motioned towards Ethel as he said that.

"Of coarse" I said. Joseph followed me to Stella's room.

Paul's P.O.V

Alice and Joseph made their way upstairs. That just left me, Linda and all the kids.

"Kids, why don't you go off and play? I need to talk to Uncle Paul for a minute" Linda said. All the kids ran off.

"What is it you need to talk about?" I asked

"It's about Alice" Linda said

"Is she okay? Is she sick?" I asked

"No, no. She's fine Paul. I promise. This is about something I saw at the press conference yesterday" Linda said

"What is it?" I asked

"I think one of your bandmates might have feelings for Alice" Linda said

Alice's P.O.V

"She's beautiful Alice. She's definitely got your eyes" Joseph said. He had officially met Stella and now he was holding her in his arms.

"Thanks. So, you said you needed to talk about something and you motioned towards Ethel. I'm assuming this is about Ethel" I said

"Yeah. We agreed to tell her about me being her father on her birthday, right?" Joseph asked

"Yeah" I said

"Okay. How are we going to tell her?" Joseph asked

"Well, for starters, it should just be the three of us when we tell her" I said

"What if she hates me after we tell her?" Joseph asked

"Why would she hate you? She's already warmed up to you. I don't think telling her that you're the birth father is going to change that. It's her hating Paul that I'm afraid of" I said

"Why would she hate Paul? Do you see how much Ethel loves him? I don't think she'll ever hate him. After we tell her, I bet she'll still be calling Paul daddy" Joseph said. I smiled and nodded.

"I guess you're right. Well, we should be getting downstairs. I think Linda's waiting to meet Stella" I said

"Alright. I'll take her down" Joseph said. Joseph made his way downstairs and I followed behind him.

"Is this Stella? She's so beautiful" Linda said. Joseph gave Stella to Linda. I watched Linda fawn over Stella until Paul walked up to me.

"Love, can I talk to you in the kitchen please?" Paul asked. I nodded and followed him into the kitchen.

"What's wrong Paul?" I asked

"Linda thinks that Denny might be in love with you" Paul said.

"What?" I asked.

"She saw the way that he was looking at you and that he was being a little too nice" Paul said. He sat down and put his head in his hands.

"Why does everyone have to fall in love with you?" Paul said. I sat down beside Paul.

"Not everyone falls in love with me" I said

"Oh yeah? What about Ethan, John and now Denny?" Paul said

"But you also fell in love with me, and I fell in love with you too" I said. Paul looked at me.

"You know, sometimes I still fear that another guy is going to come along. He'll fall in love with you and then you'll fall in love with him. Then you'll leave me for him" Paul explained. I grabbed his hand and held it to my heart.

"That's never going to happen Paul. You're my true love, the love of my life and my soulmate. We're going to stay married forever, we'll have more children together and I'm sure we'll die together" I said. Paul smiled and pulled me into a kiss.

"I love you, my lovely Alice" Paul said

"And I love you, my handsome Paul" I said
