Alice's P.O.V

April 23, 1971

"They say it's your birthday. It's my birthday too, yeah. They say it's your birthday. We're gonna have a good time. I'm glad it's your birthday. Happy birthday to you" I woke up to Paul singing in my ear. I sat up on the bed. Paul cupped my cheeks and brought me into a kiss.

"Happy 28th birthday, love" Paul said.

"That means I'm only two years away from thirty" I said

"You'll still be beautiful. You'll always be beautiful" Paul said

"Thanks" I said. I looked at the clock on the wall. It was eleven in the morning.

"Why didn't you wake me up earlier?" I asked

"It's your special day so you got to sleep in" Paul said

"You weren't watching me sleep this whole time, were you?" I asked

"I was watching you for about an hour now come with me to the kitchen. Helen and I made you a special breakfast with some help from Ethel and Mary" Paul said. Paul grabbed my hands and pulled me out of bed. He led me into the kitchen.

"Happy birthday mommy!" Ethel said. She ran up to me and hugged me. When she let go, Mary did the same thing.

"Thank you girls" I said, kissing them both on the forehead. Helen walked up to me holding a plate that had a cupcake with a lit candle on it.

"Happy birthday Alice. Now make a wish and blow out the candle" Helen said. I closed my eyes for a moment, making my wish and then I blew out the candle.

"What did you wish for?" Paul asked, wrapping his arm around my waist.

"I didn't wish for anything. Everything is perfect the way it is. I have the perfect husband, my girls that I love so much, a nanny that's a big help around the house and a little one that's on the way" I said, placing my hands on my small baby bump.

Paul needed me out of the house for a couple of hours so he suggest that Helen and I head to town for a couple of hours. We brought Mary with us. Ethel wanted to stay home with Paul.

"So, what do you want to do?" Helen asked

"Well I'm getting hungry so I think it's time for lunch. Are you hungry, Mary?" I asked my daughter. She looked up at me and nodded.

"Lunch it is then" Helen said

We found a small diner. Helen and I sat opposite each other while Mary sat on a high chair beside me.

"Since it's your birthday, you can get anything you want and it's on me" Helen said

"Oh, you don't have to do that" I said

"But I want to and not just because it's your birthday. You and Paul do so much for me and it's good that I return the favour" Helen said

"Thanks Helen" I said. The waitress came up to us with a smile on her face.

"Hello. Why, it's Alice McCartney. I love all your movies!" the waitress asked

"Thank you!" I said

"What can I get you three?" the waitress asked

"We'll get three chocolate milkshakes" I said

"Alright Mrs. McCartney" the waitress said.

"Does it bother you that people you haven't even met already know who you are?" Helen asked

"Sometimes. I miss getting to say, 'hello my name is Alice' " I said. The waitress came back with the milkshakes.

"Here you go. My boss said anything you order, it's on the house" the waitress said

"Well thank you. I'll take the best vegetarian meal you've got" I said

"Alright. What would you like Miss White?" the waitress asked. Helen's eyes widened at the fact the the waitress already knew her name.

"Just fish and chips" Helen said

"And for the little one?" the waitress asked

"Mary loves macaroni and cheese" I said

"Alright. I'll make sure the cook get right on those orders" the waitress said. She smiled at us before walking away.

"Okay, how does she know my name?" Helen asked

"You spend a lot of time with a former actress and a former Beatle. Someone was bound to find out your name sooner or later. I think I even mentioned your name during an interview after mine and Paul's wedding" I said

"So I'm kind of like a famous nanny" Helen said

"I guess you are" I said

~

After we finished eating, the waitress came up to us.

"I hope you enjoyed your meals Mrs. McCartney and Miss White" the waitress said

"We did. Thank you" I said. The waitress looked at Mary.

"She's beautiful. Definitely looks like Paul" the waitress said

"Well, I think you'd be pleased to know that we have another one on the way" I said

"Congratulations" the waitress said.

"Again, thank you" I said

"I don't mean to sound rude or imposing or anything but is that why you don't make anymore movies?" the waitress asked

"Maybe. Paul and I were engaged for so long but I had a busy filming schedule that I needed to end my contract before another movie offer came up so we could get married. Then Mary was born soon after so I decided to give up acting for good. My family comes before my career" I said

"Would you consider making more movies if you had the chance?" the waitress asked

"Maybe but I haven't gotten any contract or movie offers in awhile" I said

"Well if one does come up, I hope you take it. I love seeing you on the silver screen" the waitress said. She said her byes to us before walking away.

"She seemed friendly" Helen said

"She did" I said

"Are you annoyed that she brought up your acting career?" Helen asked

"I'm not actually. She has me thinking now" I said

"About what?" Helen asked

"About acting again. I haven't done a film in three years. I miss it actually" I said. Helen smiled and leaned against her seat.

"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" Helen said. I nodded.

"I think I'm ready to start acting again" I said
