Chapter 119

Alice's P.O.V

February 8, 1974

I was preparing for Linda's arrival. She called before she left for the airport and said that it was just going to be her and Heather flying over. Linda had given birth to child number six last month. She gave birth to a girl and named her Lindsay. Linda didn't want her travelling at such an early age so Joseph agreed to stay behind with her and the other children. I was busy washing dishes in the kitchen when the phone began to ring.

"Paul! Can you get the phone? I'm washing dishes!" I called. I heard the ringing stop suddenly, then I heard Paul's voice.

"Hi Linda! Are you? Okay, we'll see you two later then" Paul stopped talking when he hung up the phone. Not even a second later, he came into the kitchen.

"Linda said she and Heather are taking a cab here. They should be here in twenty minutes" Paul explained

"Great. Hopefully I can get these dishes done by then" I said. I was about to grab one of the pans when Paul reached for my hands.

"Love, how hard have you been scrubbing?" he asked

"What are you going on about?" I asked

"Look at your delicate hands. They're all red" Paul said

"Well they've been in hot water. That happens, you know" I said. Paul enclosed his hands around mine.

"I think you've done enough for today. You go get things ready for when Linda gets here. I can do the rest of the dishes" Paul said

"Are you sure?" I asked

"Yes. You've got the hands of a pianist. I wouldn't want them to become calloused" Paul said. I smiled and shook my head.

"You're making such a big deal over my hands" I said

"Beautiful hands that fit so perfectly in mine, and know just how to please me" Paul said. He laced his fingers with mine and brought me into a kiss. When we pulled away, I heard knocking on the door.

"That must be Linda" Paul said. He let go of my hands so I could go and answer the door. When I opened it, both Linda and Heather stepped inside.

"Thanks for visiting you two" I said

"It's our pleasure. I'm looking forward to writing our album" Linda said

"Me too. How was the flight Heather?" I asked

"It was long. I fell asleep" Heather replied.

"Don't worry, I'm always falling asleep on planes as well" I said

"Where's Uncle Paul?" Heather asked.

"In the kitchen doing dishes. Why don't you go say hi?" I said. Heather nodded and went into the kitchen. That left Linda and I alone.

"Where's the girls?" Linda asked

"Laura stopped by for a visit. The girls got really excited so she wanted to take them out for a bit. How's Lindsay?" I said

"So far she's an angel. I hope she'll be okay while I'm gone" Linda said

"Don't worry. Joseph and her siblings are with her. I can't wait until we get to meet her" I said
