Chapter 23

Alice's P.O.V

I watched from the kitchen as I saw Paul and George catching up with each other. They both looked really happy. I felt a presence behind me. I turned my head to see Joseph.

"You have a knack for making people happy" Joseph said. I smiled.

"Thanks" I said

"So, Linda told me about your plan" Joseph said

"You're not going to tell Paul are you?" I asked

"No. I'll help you with it. Linda suggested that I spend the day with her and Paul" Joseph said

"You should. You can get to know Paul a bit better because I know you two didn't exactly get off to a great start when you met" I said

"And now look at us. We're friends with each other" Joseph said. Linda came up behind Joseph and wrapped her arms around his waist.

"There's my lovely Linda" Joseph said. Linda smiled and she kissed Joseph's cheek. She then put her head on his shoulder, facing me at the same time.

"Did Joseph tell you he's going to tag along with Paul and I tomorrow?" Linda asked

"Yeah. Just don't make Paul the third wheel" I said

"We promise we won't" Joseph said. I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see Pattie.

"Hey Pattie" I said

"Hi Alice. Hey Linda, hey Joseph" Pattie said

"Hi Pattie" Linda and Joseph said simultaneously.

"Alice, I was looking for you. I was hoping we could talk and catch up" Pattie said.

"Sure thing. Do you want to talk outside?" I asked

"Sure" Pattie said. Pattie and I went outside. We sat down on a bench that was on the porch.

"So, how have you two been? I know you guys have been living in Scotland for a bit" Pattie said

"Oh, it's wonderful. We have our own farm" I said

"That must be nice" Pattie said

"How about you and George? How's life for you two?" I asked

"Wonderful. George still makes music. He's been working a lot with Eric Clapton" Pattie said

"That must be fun for George" I said

"It is. Eric and George are good friends. Eric is such a sweet person, especially towards me" Pattie said

"Did you know Paul and I plan on making an album together?" I asked

"Really? That's so sweet! A husband and wife duo" Pattie said

"Do you talk to any of the other girls? Besides Maureen, I haven't spoken to any of them in awhile" I said

"I do. Cynthia and Roberto got married, Carrie and Peter got married. Jane and Gerald are still together. They don't plan to get married quite yet but they announced themselves as long time partners. Oh, and I talk to your old friend Ethan. He said that he and Francie are thinking about having children" Pattie said

"Speaking of old friends, I'm going to tell you something but you have to promise not to tell Paul" I said

"I promise" Pattie said

"Well, after I called George the other day, I decided to give John a call to invite him to come for Christmas" I said

"I'm guessing he didn't want to come" Pattie said
