Chapter 15: The Uchiha Siblings [Naruto]

Kakashi was late, yet again and Naruto along with Sakura were outwardly complaining about it. You would think by now they'd get the idea that he's never on time. I glanced up just as he appeared not listening to his excuse as he jumped down in front of us.

"I know this a bit sudden but I recommended you for the Chunin exams. All four of you. These are the application forms" He held out four forms.

"Application forms?" Sakura questioned.

"You're repeating me Sakura, this is all voluntary it's up to each of you. If you don't feel ready you can wait till next year." I took a form from him staring at it for a moment. I knew my skill, even Kakashi knew my skill but Gaara's words haunted my mind. The Chunin exams are no place for someone like me. What if it was a warning?

"Whoever wants to take the exams sign the application form and go to the academy in room 301. It's at three pm five days from now. That's it." I felt a hand on my shoulder and glanced up meeting Kakashi's eye.

"You look troubled."

"Can we talk?" He nodded slightly.

"I'll see you at home Sasuke!" I shouted before walking off. It was silent for a while as we walked through the village stopping only once we reached the village gates. I jumped up along the wall landing on top and Kakashi followed. I sighed as I sat down and placed the form in front of me.

"The last time we sat here you ran off into the forest." I laughed slightly.

"That was because I was mad at you for pointing out the truth."

"The truth?"

"That something was different about Itachi." I heard him sigh lightly as he took a seat beside me.

"It wasn't your fault you know." I sighed shaking my head.

"I really don't want to talk about that." He nodded knowing what that meant. Not even with Sasuke I talked about him or what had happened.

"Then what's up?"

"Do you think other people can know more about you than you do yourself?" He shrugged slightly.

"Sometimes, I hate to bring him up again but Itachi always seemed to know something about you that others were missing. Just like you have that same look in your eyes when you look at others, almost like you can see what secrets and the potential they hold." I nodded slightly as I looked out towards the surrounding forest.

"Do you think I'm ready for the chunin exams?" I leaned into him once he put his arm around me.

"I think that's really for you to decide but in my opinion yes you are. You're smart, you're skilled and strong and you know what to do when others don't. It would help the others if you were there too. I'd worry but I know you're ready." I smiled slightly and released a slow sigh when I remembered one more thing that's been pressing on my mind.

"I need you to be honest with me about something"

"What is it?" I released a slow breath.

"When we were fighting Zabuza and you got injured. Was what Zabuza said was true?"

I knew what she was talking about, of course I did. When Zabuza laughed at, as he put it, my silly crush on the young Uchiha Princess. He was right, she was young and she was my student.  I had been praying she would forget or shake it off as nothing. I should have known better, it was Rin after all.

"Rin I..."

"I mean I'm okay with it and it all. I-I know for a fact that my father had considered you f-for my future husband." I noticed her cheeks flush and her eyes widen.
