Chapter 48: The Uchiha Siblings [Naruto]

I found myself smiling at the sound of Rin's laughter as we stepped out of a restaurant just having finished off-mission reports for Lady Tsunade. It's been about two weeks and she's healed up better than I thought. Though I could still see the faint lines of burns still healing and the bruise on her temple still yellowing regardless she was still doing better.

"I can't believe they spent two days trying to figure out what's under your mask." I chuckled nodding in agreement. Sakura, Naruto, and Sasuke spent the past two days in the curiosity of what I hid beneath my mask. It had been Rin's last two days off and it wouldn't matter, she already knew.

"But it explains why Sasuke asked me. So what's with the box?" She said motioning to the long brown box under my arm. I smiled slightly.

"This is for you," I told her simply and handed her the box as we paused on the street. I noticed her raise her eyebrow but she still lifted the lid her dark eyes widening in surprise as she took hold of the object inside.

"A Katana?" I smiled slightly as she held the handle balancing the weight in her hands.

"I know it's not a conventional gift but I noticed that you lost yours sometime in the Chunin exams, and figured you'd like a new one." She spun it in her hands making swift and easy blows at an invisible enemy.

"This is great Kakashi better than any conventional gift. The weight is easy and light, it flows like my old one though it'll still take some practice getting used to it's really great, thank you." I smiled as she slid the Katana into her belt and rested her hand on the hilt.

"I'll admit it was a little hard determining the weight and length. With your fighting style, speed, and all other skills I had to account for." I began to explain as we started our walk to the Hokage's office.

"Well you did a great job choosing out an Assassins blade, I'm impressed." I chuckled gently and smiled when I felt her hand slip into mine.

"I was an Anbu you know."

"Not a very good one if you couldn't even track a five-year-old" She stated with a playful wink. I rolled my eyes as we walked up the steps.

"You weren't a normal five-year-old." She shrugged.

"I took after Itachi." She said simply as she pushed open the doors. Lady Tsunade looked up from her desk a slight smile on her face.

"Excellent Rin, Kakashi you're both here." We both bowed slightly before standing straight as she rose from her seat with a navy green flak jacket in hand.

"I've heard from many that Rin is an effective leader that holds great skill and a sharp mind along with medical knowledge." She began a smile on her face.

"And has been recommended by those many ninja and feudal lords that she be granted the rank of Chunin" I noticed Rin's eyes widen slightly as Tsunade paused in front of her.

"So it's with great pleasure that I present you with this jacket and welcome you as our newest Chunin." Rin took the jacket and I noticed the smile widen on her face.

"Thank you Lady Tsunade it's an honour really but if you don't me asking then who else passed."

"One other but right now I need you for another purpose. As it stands I cannot spare a Jounin for B-Rank missions or team missions." She began as she leaned against her desk.

"Kakashi will soon be busy with his own missions, but in his place, I'd like you to lead team seven on a guard and escort mission. I understand it's soon but it's good practice and experience." I felt my heart drop recalling the last time I had asked her to lead a mission.
