Chapter 56: The Uchiha Siblings [Naruto]

Shikamaru

I watched Neji and Rin as veins appeared around Neji’s eyes and Rin’s faded into a blazing red. The both of them scanned around the dome and I notice them tense.

“The wall” Rin breathed.

“I-It’s..” Neji seemed to stutter.

“The wall is what, come on guys what’s going on? What do you see?” Naruto urged but Neji seemed to ignore him as he looked down at his hands then at Rin.

“Our chakra, it’s absorbing it like sponge.” I notice the brief look of panic cross Rin’s eyes as she continued to look around.

“It’s an earth jutsu” She muttered.

“Yeah so?” She glanced at me.

“So every style has a weakness, wind against fire, fire against water, water against earth and earth against lightning.”

“But none of us know lightning jutsu” She put her hands together.

“One of us does” I reached to stop her but knew it was too late as she shot her hand down and the chakra became loud and clear in her hand. She turned quickly and slammed her fist into the wall the blast of it sending debris and dust everywhere. I heard it die down suddenly and noticed that Neji’s eyes never left Rin as she pulled back. There was well formed break and I caught a brief glimpse of sunlight before it began to close.

“What the….”

“It ate up the chakra from your jutsu; therefore you didn’t get the full effect.” I noticed her eyes harden into a glare.

“Then I’ll just put more into it” I caught her wrist before she could try again.

“Let’s just think this through first, don’t waste chakra that we might need later.” I noticed her sigh as her eyes faded to black.

“Alright” She agreed and I released her wrist. I looked around as the others began to stare at the walls. We had to get out of here, I just wasn’t sure how to.

Neji

It had been a while; or rather it seemed like a while. Most of us were sitting or lying against the wall. We were all drained only Rin remained standing.

“I-I feel like my energy is being drained out of me.” Naruto panted. I was about to activate my Byakugan when I heard a stifled cough noise. I thought it was just a trick of the ear until the coughing become louder. I turned just as Rin doubled over coughing violently into her hands.

“Rin!” Shikamaru pushed past me gaining some new found energy as Rin sank to her knees. I walked over slowly as she supressed a scream and her hands flew to her neck. I noticed the faint spots of blood on her lips as her teeth clenched.

“It’s her curse mark, it’s flaring up she’s losing the charka she needs to control it.” I activated my Byakugan surprised at what I saw. Blue chakra left her body but some of it seemed to fade to black as it pulled towards her curse mark.

“G-Get away” I let my Byakugan fade and Rin’s form came back into vision.

“What are you talking about Rin?”

“I-I m-might lose control.” I noticed her teeth clench again as she bent forward.  I walked towards them and tilted Rin’s head to the side.

“Here, I’ve got an idea. I don’t guarantee that it’ll stop the pain but it might stop whatever that is from unleashing.” Shikamaru nodded slightly as he shifted to the side and I knelt down in front of her re-activating my Byakugan.
