Rin
I was released from the hospital only a few days ago with a full and quick recovery. Well not full. I had an illness, an illness that could kill me if I over exerted myself. An illness that was a burden for what I needed to accomplish. For the promise I needed to keep to my father. At this moment I was sitting in front of his grave beside him my mother. I had missed the Hokage's funeral but I didn't mind to much. I really hated funerals. I sighed as I touched the gravestone and traced over my father's name.
"What now Daddy?" I whispered. We had managed to keep it quiet so only Sasuke, Kakashi, Jazmine, Sakura, Naruto, Shikamaru and his father knew of my illness. Shikamaru has been with his dad searching through their family medical books for anything that could help. Even Sakura took to the libraries medical section to contribute anything she could find and Jazmine was up to something or other. Suki said they were working on a cure and had an idea of what needed to be done. They couldn't kill it with medicines just control it. For me to be cured they had to remove it completely and only one ninja could do that; Lady Tsunade one of the legendary Sanin. I know what you're thinking at least I can be cured right? Well no because no one actually knows where Lady Tsunade is. So until she was found I'd have Sasuke and Kakashi breathing down my neck about taking it easy. I sighed getting to my feet.
"Bye Mom, Bye Dad" I whispered realizing for once I was late to meet Kakashi and Sasuke. I slid my hands into my pockets and began walking back to the village. I paused once I reached a bridge sensing a familiar chakra a slight smirk coming to my face as I turned breaking into a run. So much for taking it easy but it was about time.
Kakashi
I managed to catch Kurenai's waist as Itachi's shadow clone exploded the water erupting in waves around us. I landed a few feet away and let down Kurenai as Asuma jumped beside us.
"Are you alright?" I nodded as I glanced over my shoulder at Itachi.
"Stay on your toes, this guy was made chief of anbu black-ops when he was just thirteen." They moved into a fighting position.
"Alright he's tough we get it" I scoffed at Asuma's comment.
"Tough? You haven't seen half of what he can do." I turned finally fully facing him.
"For one not of the Uchiha clan you use the sharingan quite well. Though not being one of us you lack the physical stamina required to sustain it and that's something you can't copy." He was right of course, my body didn't have the stamina he, Sasuke or Rin did. I put my hands together about to block his water attack when a ball of flame slammed into the wave and it burst into steam.
"What the..."
"Tsk, tsk, tsk Kakashi I expected a little more of a fair fight here." We all turned as the steam cleared and I noticed a smirk grow on Itachi's face.
"Long time no see little sister." I stared at Rin as she opened her eyes. The blazing red of the sharingan staring at Itachi as a similar smirk grew on her own face.
"Same to you big brother. Though I was hoping our reunion wouldn't be so hostile." She pulled a kunai tossing it in her hand.
"But I guess it can't be helped" I slid in front of her before she could run forward and her eyes met mine.
"What are you..."
"You just got out of the hospital and you're already being reckless! With your condition you shouldn't even be here!" She rolled her eyes.
"Yeah because obviously you were handling this so well."
"Rin now is not the time, leave"
"I am not leaving when I know you're fighting someone that could kill you!"
"He could kill you too!"
"I know his fighting style better than you idiot so stop arguing!" A dark chuckle broke our argument and we both looked at Itachi.
"So the rumours are true then. The Uchiha Princess and the great copy ninja." Rin shrugged.
"Yeah they are and don't worry Sasuke didn't approve either." I noticed his gaze harden slightly and Rin pushed me aside.
"Just cover me." I was going to argue but she already shot forward.
"Kakashi shouldn't you stop her." I looked at Kurenai and shook my head.
"No, as much as I hate to admit Rin is the only one here that can keep up with him." Even with her illness if she could weaken him then we could do the rest.
Rin
"Ninja art water style water wall jutsu!" The water shot up and turned into a wall of steam as Itachi's fireball hit it. I ran forward through the steam and snapped my fist forward catching Itachi's in the same moment he caught mine our eyes meeting in a slight glare. I noticed the smirk return to his face.
"So you've grown little sister" I grinned slightly.
"Faster than you ever did" I reminded him.
"Not exactly faster." I turned on my heel the moment he let go of my fist to slow to block his hit and taking it full on. I groaned slightly when I slammed into the water. I broke the surface taking a breath as I pulled myself back to my feet hearing the slight cracks coming from my ribs. Reminders to self, never get close enough to him for him to use taijutsu.
"You suck" I muttered getting to my feet. I noticed his eyes close for a moment and slowly they opened. I knew that genjutsu I've used it enough in the past month.
"Close your eyes now!" Kurenai and Asuma Sensei immediately followed my command as did Kakashi keeping his sharingan eye open. Itachi smirked slightly as he looked at Kakashi.
"You Sharingan may have the power to resist mangekyo but only a true Uchiha can resist the Tsukuyomi"
"Itachi no!" But I knew it was too late, he already had Kakashi.
"Rin what's going on!?"
"Keep your eyes closed until I say so!" I ordered before looking back at Itachi. I had to do something, I couldn't let Kakashi go through that.
"You owe me big time Kakashi" I muttered putting my hands together. I made fast hand signs and stretched my hands towards Itachi in a triangle shape.
"Ninja art mind combination jutsu!" I felt a sudden pull and slammed suddenly into the ground. I sighed lightly, I really have to stop using copied jutsu. I rolled back to my hands and pushed myself to my feet. Everything was red and black, clones of Itachi were everywhere and finally my eyes landed on Kakashi who was strapped upright to a table.
"Kakashi!" A few the clones turned and I noticed the slightly shocked expressions as I pulled a few kunai.
"Out of my way!" I ran towards him dodging and killing any clones that got in my way. I stumbled slightly when I landed and dropped to my knees as I felt a tight feeling in my chest.
"Shit..." I cursed beneath my breath. Not now, of all times this has to act up now, it's nearly as bad as the curse mark. I looked up as Itachi approached me creating a single hand sign I recognized as release.
"Good bye Rin"
Kakashi
I dropped to my knees the moment I was released. I had seen Rin in there and I knew she wasn't meant to be which lead to a jutsu she most likely copied. I looked towards Rin and noticed the blank look in her eyes as they faded to black. She collapsed then her body slowly sinking into the water.
"Foolish little sister" I looked at Itachi as he walked to where she had been standing and reached into the water pulling her out by her arm. I watched as he slipped off his cloak and wrapped it around her hiding her face from view before lifting her into his arms.
"We'll I have what I came for"
"Let her go!" I managed to shout only earning a dark chuckle from him.
"You'll be lucky to see her again Kakashi. Kisame let's go" They disappeared then taking Rin with them. I wanted to run after them but I was in no condition to and as the world around me began to slip away into darkness all I could to do was pray that Rin would be alright.
