Chapter 55: The Uchiha Siblings [Naruto]

Rin

I staggered nearly falling from the tree as I dropped to my knees and clutched my curse mark. The sudden flare had taken me off guard. I could almost feel it pulsing beneath my fingers as I took slow breaths trying to keep it under control. I shut my eyes tight trying to focus but all I saw was Sasuke, Sasuke with four others ninjas. He was clutching his chest and dropped to his knees, and was then sealed into a container. Then everything went dark. I sucked in sudden breath and my hands dropped from my neck.

“The hell” I muttered wiping the sweat from my forehead. I knew the bond between siblings was strong, especially among such powerful clans but I had never once seen Sasuke or Itachi in danger. I could sense it and I knew they had the same sense when I was in trouble but never a vision. I shook the image away and rose to my feet realizing that I had lost the others.

“Fantastic” I muttered jumping to the ground and pressing my ear against it. I listened carefully confused when I heard there footsteps circling around a straight area. There had to be something there, Shikamaru wouldn’t waist time but at least they weren’t far; only set back was I had to watch for traps now.

Shikamaru

“Man this whole forest is crawling with booby traps” Kiba complained as we carefully stepped over wires.

“Do you think Rin is alright?” I heard Naruto ask.

“I’m sure she’s right behind us” I told him confidently. She had mentioned I wouldn’t be able to sense her, but it still made me uneasy.

“Naruto do us a favour and stop thinking about Rin. You need to watch where you’re going there are trip wires everywhere and we don’t need to get blown up.” I glanced at Naruto noticing the shimmer of a wire beneath the shadow of the first and beneath the shadow of his foot.

“Naruto hold it!” I put my hands together but stopped when I heard a soft bell. A hand suddenly grabbed the back of Naruto’s jacket. I watched as he was pulled into the air and seemed to free fall for a moment before a pair of hands caught his wrists.

“Jeez Naruto you need to lay off the ramen” I stared in slightly amazement as Naruto looked up at Rin. She was upside down in a complete split between to branches, her hands held Naruto’s wrists tightly holding him a few feet above the ground. She looked towards us, her eyes still dark. I realized the bell sound from before was from the senbon that held her hair up.

“Lucky I got here on time. Fell behind a moment.”

“You’re supposed to stay hidden.” I scolded and she sighed.

“There’s no way they’ll know I am here; you didn’t even know I was this close.” I sighed rubbing my temples as she swung Naruto a bit and released his wrists letting him land in a safe area. She let herself drop and landed on her hands making a complete handspring before landing next to us.

“I expected you of all people to be more careful” She teased and I sighed.

“Rin…”

“Alright, I got it, keep hidden.” I caught her wrist before she could run off but she kept her back turned to me.

“Thank you” She nodded slightly.

“We have to keep vigilant, these guys aren’t lazy. Neji” He looked towards her.

“Use your Byakugan and check ahead” He nodded putting his hands together as Rin knelt down pressing her ear against the ground. She waited a moment with her eyes closed and her nose scrunched, a habit she had whenever she was focusing or thinking. Then finally she sat up.
