Chapter 61: The Uchiha Siblings [Naruto]

Gaara

I had sensed it; even before Lady Tsunade had sent a request for help the sand, as always I had sensed that Rin was in danger. It had taken all I had not to run to find her and when the message came I was practically the first out of the village. I was relieved that she wasn’t in to rough condition and finally offered her my hand. Even with her eyes blazing red I could tell she was surprised. Her hand slipped into mine and I felt at ease knowing she would be safe now as the familiar buzz ran through our palms. I pulled her to her feet letting the wall of sand drop.

“How did…”

“The Hokage sent for us.” I told her before looking back at the ninja she had been fighting. I noticed his gaze remained focused on Rin and I instinctively pushed her slightly behind me. 

“Seems like you’re still coming to my rescue, you know I’m going to owe you the rest of my life with how many times you’ve saved mine.” I smiled slightly at her comment but quickly let it slip as I looked at the ninja.

“His name is Kimimaro, he holds a kekeigenkai that allows him to remove and use his bones as weapons. His genjutsu and ninjutsu seem weak or non-existent. He’s a close to mid-range fighter and has a taijutsu style much like my own if you remember anything from the chunin exams” I nodded in response as she stepped away from me and towards her comrade as he struggled to stand.

“Easy Lee, just hold still” I glanced at her watching as her hands began to glow with green chakra and she carefully pressed them against his legs. It wasn’t long before she stopped and I noticed her sigh.

“I can’t do as much as I’d like to because I don’t know what Lady Tsunade did for your surgery and I can’t risk causing conflict with it.” She explained, he merely pushed aside her hands and got his feet.

“I will be fine Rin, please just back me up”

“Lee no you can’t fight anymore!” I nodded when I heard her shout and my sand shot after him sliding under his feet and causing him to fall forward. He turned glaring at me slightly.

“Will you please let go of me!” I crossed my arms keeping a hold of his ankle and noticed him flinch in pain.

“You’re squad leader and medic gave you a direct command. Plus you’re not doing anything in your present state. I’ve got this.” I told him as I walked past him.

“You’re Gaara of the desert, you wield sand, hence the name. I was warned that you would come to the Princess’ aid if she were in danger.” It wasn’t hard to tell he was one of Orochimaru’s goons. I felt Rin step up beside me and nodded my head again making my sand circle her in defense as Kimimaro jumped up shooting smaller white bones at us. I remained where I was my sand responding naturally to deflect any attacks from me, Rin or her comrade. He seemed to easily dodge every attack I made as he slid across the grass.

“Gaara of the desert, rather a foolish name. You’re nothing without that sand of yours” I let my sand shoot forward towards him as he jumped up dodging it again.

“Sand shower” I muttered and he looked up at the cloud of sand above him.

“What a surprise” He taunted. I ignored his comment as I caught his ankles preventing him from jumping back.

“But as long as I have it I can do anything, the only fool here is you. If I need more sand I can easily use the earth you’re standing on to make more” I explained raising my hand as I encased him in my sand.
