Chapter 66: The Uchiha Siblings [Naruto]

I pressed my back against the apartment wall hiding in the shadows as my clone walked by. I looked around counting them; one, two, three Anbu all following the clone. It's been a few days. A few lonely days if I was being honest. Kakashi was usually out on missions and I was suspended from duty until further notice. It was killing me having these restrictions and I had finally lost it to sake after I had gotten that message the other evening. Now after a morning of nothing but bread and water my hangover had subsided enough so that I could think a little more clearly. Once I knew it was safe, I focused chakra to my feet and ran up the side of the apartment wall. I jumped through the top floor window into mine and Sasuke's old apartment. I closed it quickly drawing the blinds and released a slow breath.

"Alright this needs to be quick" I muttered. It's been five days since Sasuke had left and by now the news had to have spread. By now I knew what I had to do and that note I received had only confirmed it. Things were changing, changing again like they had the first time, and like then I couldn't afford to get left behind. I closed the bedroom door and lit a few candles feeding some light in the room as I sat in the center. I touched the ring hanging from the chain around my neck and released a slow sigh.

"Watch over me Dad" I whispered and began the hand signs. I repeated them twice and pressed my palms together.

"Astral star projection" I muttered. I felt the room spin around me before it slowly disappeared fading away into black. I closed my eyes focusing harder as I forced more chakra into the jutsu. It was a communication jutsu, one that Pein had invented when he first created the Akatsuki.

"Well, well, well look who it is" I opened my eyes then looking around the familiar room as the astral projection of each Akatsuki member stared back at me.

"Long time no see Princess" I heard Deidara taunt.

"I was surprised to receive word from you. After your defect from the Akatsuki, I assumed you would remain in hiding. This is very bold of you." I rolled my eyes letting my Akatsuki self take over.

"I was more surprised when I received an answer. Now cut the crap Pein you should already know why I'm here" I heard Hidan chuckle.

"Same disrespectful little bitch" He muttered but I remained focused on Pein.

"So then it's true? Orochimaru has gained a set of Sharingan eyes, and your older brother has left you" I clenched my fists refusing to let him push me and forcing back the memories of Sasuke.

"If you haven't noticed I'm pretty used to my brothers leaving me" I shot back and felt Itachi's gaze on me.

"Then tell me Princess what is that you desire from us?" I released a slow breath. This was it, no turning back now.

"My place in the Akatsuki" It fell silent then as I faced the projection of Pein.

"Sasuke's gone, I have nothing left keeping me here. I shouldn't have left for him in the first place. I thought he needed me and obviously, I was mistaken. Now I'm here to request my position in the Akatsuki" I met Pein's eyes and hardened myself to his gaze. I knew what he was looking for, any sign of weakness, anything that would give me away. Anything to say that I was lying but he trained me himself, he wouldn't see anything that I didn't want him to.

"What of the copy ninja?" I heard the snickers ripple across the room. I swear some of these guys were like children.

"What of him?" I replied smoothly. It was silent a while longer and I began to shift impatiently.

"Tomorrow night" I looked up at him.

"What?"

"Tomorrow night Itachi and Kisame will be waiting for you at the land of fire's border." I nodded then.
