Shikamaru

My fondest memories of Choji were when we first became friends, after a game of ninja when we sat on the roof to watch the clouds and eat chips. After that he became a constant companion to Rin and I. Rin and him had a silent but thoughtful friendship, back then she had stood up for him countless times and had nearly got into fights to defend him on my behalf; fights that he would pull her from before it got to intense. When he had pushed her into me back there, that’s what it reminded me of. Leaving him there, I knew it was just as weird for her as it was for me but we both knew he would be alright.

“Were getting closer” I snapped from my thoughts and glanced to Kiba.

“He’s right but there are still no traps, Shikamaru what’s your assessment?” I sighed looking forward.

“We’ve been underestimated; they think were dead and only the big guy is following them. Why set traps for their own man?”

“That’s kind of insulting.” I glanced at Rin who had a slight frown on her face.

“But it does give us the element of surprise” She met my gaze then.

“So what’s the plan?”

Neji

Rin always seemed to be on the sidelines at the start of fights. I could tell she hated it but Shikamaru always made it make sense as to why. She was the only one here who could copy and exploit the weakness of a ninjutsu. The only difference this time I was with her. Since we had seen through the last guy’s ninjutsu Shikamaru figured having the two eye techniques fighting side by side could benefit us. I followed Rin’s light steps and quick but silent movements as her red eyes watched Shikamaru get trapped.

“Can you copy anything?” I asked in a hushed tone as the six armed freak shot webs towards Naruto. She shook her head.

“No, his jutsu it’s almost like a kekeigenkai. His body is built for it, trying to copy it would be as useless as trying to imitate the gentle fist technique” I nodded as I continued to follow her every move as best as I could through the trees just as Kiba got stuck.

“Guess it’s our turn.” She nodded as we both jumped out. I snapped my arm forward only to strike past him as he dropped.

“Shit” I heard Rin curse as she turned pulling a kunai and tossing it above us. I noticed the wire wrapped around her wrist as she caught hold of it and swung towards me catching my hand.

“Hold on!” She shouted a she pulled on the wire moving us farther from the web.

“Oh no you don’t!”

 “Neji, Rin watch it!” I glanced behind me as a golden looking kunai shot towards us.

“Rin let go!” I shouted.

“What?”

“Let me go!” I managed to pull my hand from her grip the kunai flying past us as I landed in the web.

“Neji no!” I glanced up as Rin landed on a high branch, her blazing red eyes were the last thing I saw before the web completely encircled me.

Rin

I could see the confusion in the six armed ninja’s eyes as he looked around searching for me. I knew he couldn’t sense my chakra; I didn’t leave a trace behind even dropping my wires so he couldn’t follow. I wasn’t high up but high enough to keep a good distance from his threads. I couldn’t believe I let Neji get caught like that, though if he hadn’t let go then we’d have gotten injured and captured together.
