"I don't want to leave you with Dinah, I'd miss my wife, and you have stuff to do-" "Nothing I know of, and if you're talking about the chemo tomorrow then Dinah can take me. Camz why are you making this such a big deal? Normani was fine with it!" Lauren argued before Dinah cut in. "Well, eventually." "She was still okay with it, Camila please, it's just one week." "But Lauren.." Camila sighed before she looked at the floor. "Can we talk in private please?" She mumbled, Lauren reluctantly nodded and walked ahead of her, waiting for her wife to follow. "Fine, we're alone. So what's your problem with this?" Lauren said firmly, she wasn't taking no for an answer. "I just, I need you." Camila sighed. "Dinah needs me too. She's in a weird place and she misses me, and I miss her too." "I'll miss you more!" Camila said, her voice cracking. Lauren sighed and took her hands. "It's one week, and then I'll be home. You'll have Mani here, it's not like you'll be all alone." "But Mani's working all day, so I will be alone, and Mani sleeps in the guest room, I'll have no one to cuddle either." Lauren sighed. "You can go to work too if that'll make it easier." "I don't want to go to work I want you!" Camila cried and Lauren pulled her into a hug. "Just one week babygirl, hm? I know you can do that." "Can't I at least visit you and Dinah?" "No babe it's our week alone, in fact maybe this will do us all some good. We're with each other 24:7. You must be a bit sick of me." Lauren joked. "I could never get sick of you. Please Lauren, don't go." "I'm starting to wonder if you have this separation anxiety thing." Lauren said hesitantly. "I don't I just, please? I'm begging you." "God. Don't beg Camila, it's very demeaning." Lauren said with a sigh. "I'm going, okay? I'll text you good morning and goodnight everyday. And you call me if it's an emergency, I'll answer, if you call I'll know it's bad and I'll answer." Lauren promised. "So that has to mean that Normani can't do any of this shit either?" Lauren shook her head. "Nope. We promised it'd be no girlfriends or wives, just best friends week." Camila whimpered and Lauren groaned. "Camz you're honestly being dramatic here. It's one week." "So what you're saying you won't miss me too?" Camila sniffled. "Of course I'll miss you too. Don't be stupid babe." Lauren said as she wiped away Camila's tears. "You know I love you." Lauren reminded her seeing as she was so insecure. "Yeah? Then why are you leaving me?" Camila pouted. "Oh come on Camz, stop it. I'm gonna go and pack a bag okay? I'll see you in a week." "Oh, so..you're not even gonna say goodbye?" Camila grumbled. "This is my goodbye, well actually it's more of a see you later, since it's only a week." "But just a minute without you feels like it's forever." Camila whined. "Poetic little shit, I love you, okay? I'll text you goodnight before I go to sleep. You call me in any emergencies, I'll be there for you." "Do you promise?" Camila whispered. Lauren held out her pinkie and Camila linked them. "Yes I promise you baby, just do everything you don't get to do while I'm here. This is a good thing for you as well as Dinah and I. It's probably even going to be nice without me here once you get used to it." "No it won't." Camila said under her breath. "I heard that." "You were meant to." Lauren kissed her wife slowly and then she pulled away much too soon for her wife's liking before she pressed a light kiss to Camila's forehead. "Stay safe, I love you. I'll see you soon." Camila let go of Lauren. "No 'I love you' back?" Lauren questioned, Camila ignored her and went outside like a zombie to the garden while her wife went upstairs to pack her things for her short stay with Dinah. "Mila I didn't mean to cause-" "Oh shut up." Camila scoffed as she shut the patio door behind her. "I think Camila hates me." Dinah sighed as Lauren came downstairs. "She'll get over it soon, ready for our week?" "Of course." Dinah smiled. "Then come on you lazybones, we have snacks to buy." Lauren giggled, tugging her best friend out the door. "Bye Mila!" She called out and Camila didn't turn around and say her goodbyes, but she heard her call to her. "Which aisle first?" Lauren asked excitedly. "Confectionary, duh." Dinah smirked. "Yup. Still the same Dinah." Lauren rolled her eyes playfully. "Shut it you, you love me." "Yes I do." Lauren smiled widely. "I can't help but feel bad for Camila though, she must really be missing you." "It's been 20 minutes D, I'm sure she's just sulking. This week, it will be no one but us. Unless there's an emergency, Normani and Camila won't call us all week." "Yeah, but she looked like a lost, betrayed, angry puppy when we left her." "We've agreed to text them in the morning and at night before we go to sleep, and Dinah I do honestly say that should be good enough." "But Laur what if something is really wrong with Camila?" "She's sulking, I think she has separation anxiety, it's saddening to see her like that, and don't get me wrong I hate seeing her cry but it's just a week." Lauren smiled sadly. "Maybe this isn't a good idea after all and you should go home." Dinah said unsurely. "No. You miss me, and I miss you, and so we're doing this for us. Camila will just have to deal with it." "Okay." Dinah smiled weakly. "Okay?" Lauren asked firmly. "Yeah, okay, whatever. You win." Dinah rolled her eyes with a smile on her face. "Ha! That's what I like to hear." Lauren smirked. "So, candy time?" "Oh yeah, it's candy time." Dinah nodded. "Race ya!" Lauren speeded down the aisles. "No fair! You got a head start!" Dinah shouted as she ran after her. "Losers wait!" Lauren called back. "Lauren look out!" Dinah shouted but Lauren fell into a display of sports balls head first. Dinah stopped at the box container and tried to contain her laughter as Lauren emerged with a grumpy face and messy hair. "You idiot!" Dinah cackled. "Fine, I guess I deserved that." "Heck yeah you did." Dinah laughed loudly. "That's what you get for running ahead, who's the loser now?" Lauren groaned and fell back in the ball pit. "What are you doing?" "Get in here with me." "Why?" "We can hide in this thing and scare people who walk by, it'll be fun." Lauren smirked. "Let's do it." Dinah giggled and climbed in. "I feel like a ten year old." "So there's your youth back, how does it feel?" Lauren nudged her. "Pretty great, I'm loving it." Dinah smiled and hid amongst the sports balls. "You should be an advert for McDonalds." Lauren teased. "Shut up." Dinah whacked her arm. "Ouch!" "Shh, someone's coming." Lauren and Dinah both ducked down and they managed to scare a good 7 people before the last one they scared turned out to be the shop's manager, and they were thrown out without getting their snacks. "Dang it." Dinah whined. "They could have at least let us pay for our stuff, I mean we made a complete nuisance for them for fun and they don't want our money to make up for it? What a fucking joke, like how stupid is that Dinah?" Lauren rambled and Dinah just smirked at her. "Shit. I'm ranting again, aren't I?" "Uh huh, it's okay, it is stupid. But we'll just go get our stuff somewhere else, we're actually lucky that they didn't ban us." Lauren nodded and then as they went in the next shop, Lauren saw Camila. The Cuban had red puffy eyes like she'd been crying and honestly Lauren felt so guilty for leaving her. "Talk to her." "No Dinah I said it's our week, it's not fair to you. If I talk to her now it'll only become a habit." "Lauren look at her, she's obviously upset. Talk to her while I go grab some stuff." Dinah smiled reassuringly and she lay a hand on her best friend's shoulder. As it happened Lauren just couldn't say no to either of them. Camila remained in her aisle frozen stiff right next to the tissues, ironically enough, Camila was probably picking up more of them for a night ahead of crying without Lauren. Lauren sighed and walked over to her wife. "You've been crying baby." She mumbled sadly and wiped her semi dry tears off her cheeks. "So? I thought we weren't meant to be talking.." Camila sniffled. "Camila stop being difficult. I can't bear to see you this upset." "You say that but you're the one who made me this way." Camila argued weakly. "Camila can you just stop and hug me? Please babe?" Lauren pouted and that was it. Camila lost all willpower at her green, hopeful, puppy eyes. "Don't get me wrong, I'm still mad at you. I really want you to come home Lolo." Camila gulped. "Camila you know I mean my promises and I take them seriously." "What about when you said you'd never leave me then?" Camila croaked as she pushed her away with the little strength and willpower she had. "Camz it's not the same thing and you know that. This isn't leaving you it's just spending some time with my best friend by ourselves." Dinah watched the two girls guiltily from a short distance. She had caused this, all because she texted Camila and she told Lauren she missed her. If she hadn't said anything the couple would probably be cuddling up together right now as they speak, or rather argue. "How did we go from fighting about a cartoon to this in a few hours?" Lauren groaned. "You know what? Maybe you were right, m-maybe we do need some space from each other because I'm torn between needing you and not even wanting to look at you." Camila said in a shaky but somewhat steady voice. Dinah met Lauren's eyes and shook her head. "Let her come too." "But Dinah it's-" "No I don't want to be the reason you guys are fighting after I'm the one who got you two together. Please Lauren, we can still have some time to ourselves. Mila falls asleep a lot earlier than us, do it." Lauren's eyes shifted from Dinah's over to Camila's sad and half hopeful eyes. Lauren pulled Camila over to her gently by her wrist and nodded slowly. Camila almost cried and hurriedly wrapped her arms around Lauren's waist tightly. "I knew you'd never leave me.." Camila whispered brokenly but Lauren couldn't help but feel it was borderline manipulative. "I love you Lolo." Lauren held her wife in her arms as if she was made of china and stared at Dinah. "I love you too." Lauren mumbled. Dinah gave her a look and Lauren nodded and rested her chin on top of Camila's head. She had done the right thing, but this time, Lauren and Dinah thought Camila needed help. Because this wasn't who she was, something was up.
