LOKI'S POV
I was not having a good day. First off,I searched for Sif in every corner of the palace so that I could kick her out,but apparently she had gone to battle with the Warriors Three and wouldn't be back until the next day. Secondly, the meeting with the nobles had gone terribly wrong. Thor was going to be crowned king as originally decided.
He was happy when he heard the news, and I wanted to share in his happiness, I really did,but I couldn't bring myself to feel jovial. Not when I knew for a fact he was going to be a terrible king. He was a good man and a brave warrior, but he was definitely not ready for the throne. He lacked the smarts for it.
Mother had tried to negotiate and asked them to consider handing over the throne to me,but they had stubbornly refused. And for the silliest of reasons, may I add. They said I wouldn't be popular with Asgardians because of my magic tricks. Apparently it was more of a 'woman's art' than a man's and that alone was enough to push me aside.
"I will kill all of them in their sleep! How dare they look down upon my powers like that!" I had fumed when mother told me what they said.
"Unfortunately there is nothing more we can do,Loki." Said mother."The decision has been made."
Mother thought there was no other way,but this was far from over for me. I was going to make a way. I'd be damned if I ever let Asgard fall because of bad leadership.
I went out to the gardens,Aisha and Zulfa faithfully walking behind me. I wanted to get some fresh air. I needed a clear mind to think things through. Aisha served me my favorite, mint tea,and I sat in brooding silence while I drank, racking my brain for ideas.
I was there for over half an hour when it finally hit me: the frost giants!
I still hadn't sent back the frost giants Sif had snuck into Asgard. They still sat frozen in the dungeons. I could use them to postpone Thor's coronation. At least until he had a bit of sense in him.
"You are dismissed." I said to Zulfa and Aisha, then I made my way to the dungeons. They were about ten,the frost giants. I needed about five more, just to make sure my plan was effective.
From the stories the all-father often told us about the frost giants,I knew that their leader,Laufey, was not friendly. So I wasn't going to borrow his men directly from him. I was simply going to show them a way into Asgard, a secret passage that not even Heimdall knew of,and the rest would take care of itself.
That evening, for the first time since i came back,I went to see the All-father. I had put the subject off for the longest time, and finally I was going to ask him about his deception. I found him in the dining hall with Thor, the two of them sharing drinks while discussing the roles and duties of a good king.
"Father,Thor." I greeted,bowing to each of them.
"Loki,my son." He got up on his feet, mildly surprised to see me. I wondered why that was. Or maybe he already knew what had brought me to him?
"Care to join us for a drink, brother?" Thor offered, waving a silver goblet filled with grape wine at my face.
"No." I declined, pushing his hand away from me."That is not what I came here for."
"What troubles you,my son?" The All-father asked.
"I came to talk to you about the frost giants." I said straightforwardly.
