THOR'S POV

I silently stood behind closed doors, still readying myself for my grand entrance, when mother approached me from behind. She took one good look at me and smiled endearingly.

"It's all right to be nervous." She said, patting my head lovingly.

"Why does everyone keep saying that?" I huffed. "I'm not nervous!"

She let out a light laugh. "You may be able to fool the rest of Asgard--"

"But never you." I finished for her. "I know."

"Thor, just remember that you have something even the great All father never had."

"And what is that?"

"Me for a mother." She smiled.

Just then Loki appeared behind us, a bright smile on his face. "Still not ready, brother?" He asked me.

"He's ready." Mother answered for me. Then to me she said, "Now don't keep your father waiting. It's time."

I smiled and nodded.

"Loki, you'll walk me in, won't you?" She said to my brother, who looked surprised by her words.

"You want me to walk you in?" He laughed, as if it was the most ridiculous thing anyone had ever asked of him.

"You wouldn't dare say no to your mother, would you?" Said mother tightly.

"Of course not." Loki said begrudgingly. He hooked his arm with mother's and then left.

LOKI'S POV

As soon as mother and I entered the room, everyone got up on their feet. We walked to the very front of the hall and I left mother's side to go take my place again next to Sif and the Warriors Three. Soon the blast of a horn sounded and the crowd went silent as the Einherjar honour guards moved into formation.

They then parted to reveal Odin, sitted atop his throne, clad in full ceremonial armor. He exuded all the power and majesty of a Ruler of Asgard, his spear Gungnir in hand and the queen by his side.

He stared straight ahead at the door, expecting Thor to walk in any moment, but they remained closed. From where I stood i could see his brows furrow in annoyance. His eyes suddenly shifted to look at me questioningly, wondering if I had anything to do with this . I shrugged at him, and his frown deepened, as if he blamed me for Thor's delay. Silly old man. A murmur suddenly erupted through the crowd, and Odin looked around the hall, now thoroughly displeased.

"Where is he?" Volstagg asked me in a loud whisper, his gaze also focused on Odin.

"He said he'd be along." I answered him.

"Oh no!" Sif exclaimed, as if she just realized something.

"What?" Volstagg asked her.

"He wants to make an entrance." She told us.

"Well, if he doesn't show up soon, he shouldn't bother. Odin looks like he's ready to feed him to his ravens." Said Fandraal, subtly swinging back and forth on his heels.

"I wouldn't worry." I said, glancing up at the old man. "Father will forgive him. He always does."

Just then, at the back of the hall, up the steps from the lower level, Mjolnïr roared up into the hall and Thor emerged, striding majestically into the hall. He stretched out his hand behind him and Mjolnïr flew towards him, landing perfectly in his hands. I groaned and rolled my eyes as the crowd erupted in cheers.
